How to Get All of the Gwiber Mounts in FFXIV

Here's how to collect some colorful dragon mounts.

For Final Fantasy XIV's Shadowbringers expansion, the game went back to some classic fantasy vibes for its Gwiber mounts. Each Extreme Trial gives a chance to obtain a vibrant little dragon. These mounts are surprisingly small to all races besides the Lalafell, who look like they suit the beasts quite well.

The word Gwiber in Welsh means adder, or viper, a believable moniker for the diminutive creatures. Players who manage to obtain all of the mounts from the Extremes will also get access to another mount, the Landerwaffe. This massive dragon is a more mechanical design than the others, but it easily towers over all the tiny Gwiber mounts.

How to get all of the Gwiber mounts in FFXIV

Each Gwiber mount is exclusive to an Extreme Trial available only during the Shadowbringers expansion. That said, players who want these mounts will need to have access to the Shadowbringers expansion to play the required content. Each Trial is level 80 content while synced, and requires a party of eight. Most fights will offer one totem for beating the boss, even if the mount isn't offered as a drop at the end. Some Trials will even offer two, making the grind a little bit faster. Mounts require 99 totems total to purchase.

While Extremes can be synced and done the traditional way, they can also be unsynced now. This means players would be tackling level 80 bosses with their level 90 character, hopefully allowing them to breeze through the fight. This can make the grind a little bit easier if luck for a mount drop isn't on a player's side. To exchange totems for all Trials besides the Ruby, Diamond, and Emerald Weapon, players will want to talk to Fathard in Eulmore at X: 10.3, Y:11.8. For Weapon-related Trials, they’ll go to C'intana in Mor Dhona at X: 22.7, Y: 6.7.

The first Extreme Trial to offer a Gwiber mount was The Dancing Plague (Extreme). Beating Titania gave players the chance to a Fae Gwiber Trumpet and score themselves this blue-and-pink dragon. To unlock the Trial, players will need to talk to the Minstreling Wanderer in the Crystarium at X: 7.5, Y: 12.5 and take the "Minstrel from Another Mother" quest. This is only available after beating the main story quest “Shadowbringers”. Completion of the fight will net players one totem.

Innocent Gwiber

The Crown of the Immaculate (Extreme) is the required Trial to beat to have a chance at the Innocent Gwiber Trumpet. This fight is also unlocked with the quest "Minstrel from Another Mother" from the Minstreling Wanderer in the Crystarium at X: 7.5, Y: 12.5. Beating this fight gives players one totem.

Shadow Gwiber

The "Minstrel from Another Mother" quest unlocks The Minstrel's Ballad: Hades's Elegy Trial as well. This fight will allow players the chance to score the Shadow Gwiber, a purple and black dragon. Players that beat Hades will be awarded two totems rather than one, and can exchange 99 of them for the Shadow Gwiber Trumpet.

Ruby Gwiber

To unlock the Cinder Drift (Extreme), players should start by going to The Lochs. At X: 11.6, Y: 22.6, players will find the Warmachina Fanatic. He'll provide a quest called "Weapon of Choice", which will unlock all Trials related to the Weapon Extremes. For a chance at the Ruby Gwiber Trumpet, players will need to beat The Ruby Weapon. One kill of this boss will provide one totem to players.

Gwiber of Light

The final Trial that can be unlocked with "Minstrel from Another Mother" is The Seat of Sacrifice (Extreme). This fight has a chance to provide the Gwiber of Light Trumpet once beaten. The cream and white dragon can also be acquired with 99 Totems of Light. The fight will only award one totem for completion.

Emerald Gwiber

The Emerald Gwiber Trumpet has the chance to drop from the Castrum Marinum (Extreme) fight. The "Weapon of Choice" quest also unlocks this Trial. After beating the boss, players will always receive one Emerald Totem. They can use this to exchange for the Gwiber mount Trumpet once 99 total are collected.

Diamond Gwiber

The final Gwiber mount to collect is the Diamond Gwiber Trumpet. The Cloud Deck (Extreme) is also the final Trial unlocked from the quest "Weapon of Choice". After beating the it, players will receive two totems instead of one.

Landerwaffe

The Landerwaffe Flute reward is obtained a bit differently than the rest of the Gwiber flutes. After all seven Gwiber mounts are in a player's possession, a new quest, “The Dragon Made”,  will become available in The Lochs. This will be at coordinates X: 11.5, Y: 22.5 with the Warmachina Fanatic. There's only a few steps after accepting the quest before players will receive their massive machine dragon mount.
