Alien Onion is an FFXIV crafting material gathered by the Botanist class, a Disciple of the Land. A bizarre bulb that isn’t actually an onion but looks vaguely reminiscent of one. It’s an ingredient used in a few Culinarian recipes.
You can find the material within Level 90 Lush Vegetation Patch near Reah Tahra (X: 14.5, Y: 28.6) in the Ostrakon Deka-okto region of Ultima Thule. Before you can acquire the resource from the node, you must first unlock the Botanist class. Then you need to be at least Level 86 before you can tap these nodes and acquire this material.
