FF14 'Adventure Jump Start Sale' Will Get You Ready for Shadowbringers

Prep for the next expansion by skipping the story and boosting your Jobs... cheaply.

It’s never too late to get into FF14. That being said, there are literally hundreds of hours worth of content to churn through before you get to the most recent stuff. Square Enix can help… for a fee. There’s an FF14 level boost and story skip sale going on right now, which is just the sort of thing you might want before the Shadowbringers expansion.

The boosts are split up into three categories, and one is significantly cheaper than the others. You can get “Tales of Adventure: A Realm Reborn” for a measly $6.99 USD (normally $18). This will skip a chosen FF14 character beyond all the original Main Scenario Quests in Final Fantasy 14: A Realm Reborn. That includes both the campaign missions the game launched with and the ones that were added for free. Put another way, this item will allow you to instantly access the first FF14 expansion: Heavensward. Well, sort of…

See, you still need to reach the original level cap of 50 on any combat Job. It doesn’t really matter which one: be it a healer, DPS, or tank. You just need at least one Job to hit level 50 in order to access Heavensward. You can read our FF14 power leveling guide for help with that.

Alternatively, you can also pay for more “Tales of Adventure” meant specifically to level up a particular Job. These are normally $25, but are also on sale for $17.50. That’s certainly pricier than the very basic boost. But you do get to go all the way to level 60 — and get a jump start on the road to 70 in the Stormblood expansion. The sale price might be useful even if you’ve already beaten the story, in fact. All FF14 Jobs level up independently of each other. So you can boost a Dark Knight, Scholar, or what-have-you as an alternative class, all on one character.

Finally, “Tales of Adventure: Heavensward” are also on sale for $17.50. This will skip you right up to the most recent expansion (Stormblood) and pairs well with that level 60 boost. Then you only need to play through one expansion’s worth of content to be caught up for Shadowbringers.

FF14 Tales of Adventure Sale – Get Ready for Shadowbringers

Personally, if you’re just getting into FF14 for the first time, I do recommend getting the A Realm Reborn boost. The version 2.0 content (as some call it) is easily the least interesting in the game. You fight an evil empire and meet some angry demigods — basic Final Fantasy stuff. Heavensward is rough in spots, but much more interesting overall. It tells the tale of a war between dragons and religious fanatics. Whereas Stormblood (currently the best FF14 expansion) deals with rebellion, imperialism, and a villain that is basically evil One-Punch Man.

No matter what you skip, FF14 is pretty good about getting you back up to speed. You can watch any of the cutscenes you missed from any in-game inn. There’s also a series of training missions that teach you your Jobs’ skills. Events may not carry as much emotional weight as they could, but it’s worth it to play with your level 70 friends.

Hurry it up, though. The FF14 level boost sale ends on June 27 at 6 p.m. PDT. That’s just hours before Shadowbringers unlocks for pre-order players. You’ll likely need every minute between now and then to play through Stormblood, too. There’s a lot of ground to cover. Good luck!
