New FFXIV 6.2 Teasers Show More MSQ and Island Sanctuary

If you're eager for more about MSQ, Island Sanctuary, the new dungeon, and next Unreal trial, this latest FFXIV 6.2 info dump has you covered.

The anticipation for the next major Final Fantasy XIV patch continues to build as the FFXIV 6.2 special site gets updated with new screenshots and information on upcoming content. This includes teasers for what’s next in MSQ, the new MSQ dungeon, the next Unreal trial, the revamp of A Realm Reborn and Heavensward duties, and the much-anticipated Island Sanctuary.

The patch titled “Buried Memory” is chockful of brand-new types of content, and you can catch up on all our coverage of FFXIV 6.2 thus far. But here, we’re going to dive into what’s we learned from the teasers. Be wary that if you haven’t caught up on the 6.1 main story quests (or finished Endwalker), you may want to tread lightly. These new FFXIV 6.2 teasers delve into some light spoilers.

FFXIV Patch 6.2 MSQ

“Five millennia ago, the great wyrm Azdaja vanished into the void, and for long years Vrtra had despaired of being reunited with his dear sister. With the encouragement of his people, however, he has found the resolve to search for her, and sets forth with the Warrior of Light for a world engulfed in Darkness…”

Based on the above quote from the site, we will indeed venture deeper into the void as we help Vrtra/Varshahn reconnect with Azdaja. This was a major hook in Patch 6.1 and it’s an exciting direction for FFXIV to commit to. And listen, any additional screen time with both Cid and Nero is a major W in my book.

FFXIV‘s lore runs deep, especially as it pertains to the dragons of its world — we have a whole lore breakdown about what makes dragons in FFXIV so special, which you should read ahead of Patch 6.2 MSQ.

The Fell Court of Troia Dungeon Preview

“Having uncovered the voidgate in the undersea treasure vault, you now seek to use it to travel to the Thirteenth. Beyond the emptiness of the rift awaits a shadowed castle swarming with voidsent, and you steel yourselves for a hostile reception.”

So, it turns out we will literally be going back into the void in Patch 6.2 MSQ. I’m sure Vrtra appreciates this, and we do to because it looks like it’ll make for an enticing dungeon to run. I could have done without that wild, nasty looking mob in the new screenshot but I’m hyped to AoE them down. If you recall the Crystal Tower raids from ARR, venturing into the void will be a familiar endeavor.

Island Sanctuary Screenshots

“Find sanctuary in an island paradise abundant with wildlife, where crops may be sown and minions let to roam. What will you learn in nature’s embrace─and what will you create from this newfound inspiration? Make ready to set sail, for your hideaway awaits!”

I’ve never been so hyped off of screenshots of a video game island. But finally, we have our first look at the actual design of Island Sanctuary. Every player gets their own instanced island to cultivate, explore, and call home. It’ll have its own quests and progression, and more importantly, its own inventory space. Crafting and gathering is the focus here, but you won’t need to have any experience in Disciples of the Hand/Land to participate. You can learn more in our breakdown of everything we know about Island Sanctuary.

Containment Bay S1T7 (Unreal) – Sephirot

“In the name of satisfying the faux commander’s craving for harrowing tales, you hearken back to your fateful encounter with the dread eikon Sephirot, first pillar of the Warring Triad. The memory still looms as large in your mind as did the great Fiend, stirred from dreams of vengeance…”

Players who love Savage raids and Extreme trials will have another chance to step up their game in the new Unreal Trial. We’re going back to the first boss of the Warring Triad from Heavensward to face a reimagined version of Sephirot. This dude is buff, and he looks angy. Hopefully you have an eight-player party ready for the challenge.

Revamped Trials and Dungeons for Heavensward and ARR 2.x

“The Duty Support system has been expanded to include five additional dungeons from A Realm Reborn and Heavensward, some of which feature key characters from the story. Certain trials have also been revamped for a smoother adventuring experience.”

As stated in previous Live Letters, Patch 6.2 will continue retrofitting old dungeons with the Duty Support system, letting you use AI companions as party members. This time, we have important characters joining the fight, which will also help enhance the narrative cohesion. From the teaser screenshot, you can take Estinien, Ysayle, and Alphinaud into the level 53 dunegon Sohm Al. Patch 6.2 will cover all MSQ dungeons up to level 57’s The Vault… I don’t know if I can do that again.

Additionally, the Thornmarch trial is getting revamped. It’s mechanics are said to be less confusing moving forward — newcomers tended to have a rough time with the current/original version. The Steps of Faith trial is also being redone as a solo instanced duty, which makes sense given the awkward nature of how that fight changed over time with higher player levels.
