Another major Final Fantasy XIV patch means another round in the cycle of Allagan Tomestones. Once FFXIV Patch 6.2 launches in late-August (August 23 or 30), you can say goodbye to several of these endgame currencies. There will be changes to the current high-end Tomestones as we work toward to sets of endgame gear with an all-new Tomestone. Here’s what you need to know about changes to Tomestones with FFXIV 6.2.
Tomestones of Asphorism
First off, you will no longer be able to obtain Tomestones of Aphorism or exchange them for items. Currently, they’re primarily used for getting Moonward gear (ILVL 570) modeled after Final Fantasy IV characters, getting Crucible Rain, a material used for obtaining Augmented Classical gear (ILVL 590), and other high-end crafting materials. After Patch 6.2, you will be able to trade in any leftover quantities of Tomestones of Aphorism for Tomestones of Astronomy.
Tomestones of Allegory and Revelation
Tomestones of Allegory and Tomestones of Revelation being are removed from the game entirely. These are the endgame currencies from the Shadowbringers era, and haven’t been obtainable for a long while. If you still have some sitting in your inventory, now’s your chance to get something out of them. These can be traded in for Tomestones of Poetics up until Patch 6.2 goes live; afterward, they will be gone for good.
Tomestones of Astronomy
The current high-end currency will be set free. Players will no longer be subjected to the weekly cap of earning 450 Tomestones of Astronomy per week once Patch 6.2 launches. However, there will still be an overall inventory cap of 2,000 that you can hold at any one time. Just be sure to spend them before reaching the overall cap. Tomestones of Astronomy are exchanged for some of the best gear in the game: Radiant gear. Tomestones of Causality (New)
With FFXIV Patch 6.2, there will be a new top-tier currency in town: Tomestones of Causality. These will essentially take the place of Tomestones of Astronomy, and presumably be used to purchase the upcoming wave of high ILVL endgame gear.
