FFXIV's Starlight Celebration Starts Soon, And You Get a Cute Yeti Minion

The most wonderful time of the year in Final Fantasy XIV!

Final Fantasy XIV celebrates the holidays every year with an in-game seasonal event called the Starlight Celebration. It’s as festive as any wintertime holiday with decorations in city centers, neat items to earn, and a questline with a heartwarming story to go along with it. This year, the Starlight Celebration kicks off on December 16 at 12 AM PT (midnight) and will go on until December 31 at 7 AM PT.

To take part in the festivities, you’ll need to talk to the NPC Amh Garanjy in Old Gridania (X: 10.2, Y: 9.4) located at Mih Khetto’s Amphitheatre. She’s the annual Starlight Celebration quest giver and she’ll start thing for you with the quest “A Very Yeti Starlight” (players must be at least level 15). Apparently the story follows a little yeti named Rudy who’s trying to find his rescuer to give thanks, but he’s struggling to find the confidence to do it. Well, the Warrior of Light can certainly brighten up the holidays for our boy Rudy.

Quest rewards for this year’s Starlight Celebration include a Wind-up Rudy minion and the Squirrel Emperor minion, both of whom are dressed up for the holidays. There is also a new home furnishing item called Starlight Mobile; it’s a wall-mounted rack that hangs a few glowing ornaments. You can see all three items below.

Last year’s Starlight Celebration included written letters from a few major characters in the FFXIV universe to your Warrior of Light, and it was the sweetest part of the event. The year before that had a story about a father reuniting with his son at a choir concert and you got to play the conductor in a rhythm game. I wonder what’s in story for us and Rudy this year! Be on the lookout for other things happening in and around Mih Khetto’s Amphitheatre for the celebrations.
