FFXIV Patch 6.2 Release Date Confirmed, Trailer is Straight Fire

No surprise on the the FFXIV 6.2 release date of August 23, but the trailer shows just how packed this patch will be.

At the start of the latest Live Letter from the Producer, the upcoming Patch 6.2 for Final Fantasy XIV got its launch date confirmed. The FFXIV 6.2 release date is August 23, 2022. This hefty update will go live after an expected FFXIV maintenance period which will take the game offline while the new content gets implemented.

Additionally, the Live Letter kicked off with a stunning trailer for FFXIV Patch 6.2, showcasing new story cutscenes and playable content. You can watch the English trailer below, but be wary of some spoilers if you’re not caught up on Endwalker MSQ.

In the trailer, you’ll see teasers and gameplay of Island Sanctuary, the next MSQ dungeon The Fell Court of Troia, and new MSQ cutscenes with Estinien, Y’shtola, and a mysterious Reaper who appears to join the main story’s mix. As expected, the Final Fantasy IV references haven’t stopped; half the trailer features a new version of the boss battle theme and a menacing version of Scarmiglione.

There are also snippets of how the Heavensward duties are changing along with the Duty Support system. And yes, the pain is going to be real — Haurchefant will be available as an AI party member in The Vault. You can also catch a preview of how The Steps of Faith is changing to a solo duty from an eight-player trial.

Although they’re not coming until Patch 6.25, we did get a glimpse of new Hildibrand quests, which is of course looking as ridiculous as ever — we hope you’re caught up on Hildibrand because it’s tied to the new relic weapons. And we saw what’s going to be happening in the Omicron’s Tribal questline, which seems to involve the Loporrits as well.

With the new raid being the main feature of Patch 6.2, the trailer capped off with teasers of what’s to come in the Pandaemonium raid series story as we descend into Abyssos. Things are getting much more intense with Erichthonios and Themis taking on a more prominent role in the story and confronting Lahabrea deeper into his wild dungeon and the darker side of Elpis.
