Now that we’ve settled into the post-launch era of Final Fantasy XIV’s Endwalker expansion, we’re starting to see new faces on familiar content. We had the beginning of our raid dungeon series, Pandaemonium, and the start of the Alliance Raid, Aglaia. Our first Tribal Quests began with Thavnair’s Arkasodara.
Next up is the Relic Weapon for the expansion! During today’s Live Letter From the Producer, FFXIV Director and Producer Naoki Yoshida gave us a few hints as to how Endwalker’s Relic Weapons will be implemented. The new Relic Weapons will be coming in Patch 6.25.
There’s a slight twist, however: the Relic Weapon questline will be unlocked by completing the ongoing adventures of Hildibrand! This side quest chain involves the misadventures of Hildibrand Manderville, a gentleman detective, and his assistant, Nashu. It’s been going on since A Realm Reborn, with the FFXIV team dutifully adding to the questline with almost every expansion (except Shadowbringers).
We’re currently on the “Somehow Further Hildibrand Adventures,” and that’s what you’ll need to complete in order to unlock the new Relic Weapons. Why? Because the new Relics will be the legendary Manderville Weapons!
We didn’t get a glimpse of these new weapons, but they’ll certainly be shining, as befits a gentleman. They’ll have something to do with Godbert Manderville, Hildebrand’s father and a legendary crafter. Both Godbert and our old Relic Weapon friend Gerolt were shown in screenshots.
According to Yoshida, these weapons will be a quest-centric progression. That makes them similar to the A Realm Reborn and Heavensward Relics, rather than the zone-specific Stormblood and Shadowbringers Relics. Be prepared for some dungeon and FATE-grinding, or acquiring random materials via Tomestone. The Relic weapon questline will update throughout the Patch 6.x cycle.
Patch 6.18 is coming on July 5 after 24-hour maintenance. Patch 6.2 is coming after that sometime in late August. If you want to know more about the new Live Letter From the Producer, we’ve got you covered. We learned about the next Tribal Quests with the Omicron on Ultima Thule, which will focus on gathering. We also got a look at Variant and Criterion Dungeons, the new mode inspired by games like Harvest Moon known as Island Sanctuary, the next MSQ dungeon called The Fell Court of Troia, and much more.
