With the new Dawntrail expansion on the horizon, and a major patch (6.55) just in the rearview mirror, there are doubtless plenty of lapsed Final Fantasy XIV subscribers who are feeling the itch to return to Square Enix’s flagship MMO. Luckily for those players, FFXIV has just announced a free login campaign, set to last from Thursday, Feb. 1, until Wednesday, Feb. 21.
Announced on social media, and via the Lodestone official website, the Free Login Campaign will give eligible returning players four days of play, ending on midnight of the fourth day. All you have to do to start the free login period is, well, login. And then you can continue play using a new subscription, should you not want your adventures in FFXIV to end.
To be eligible for the Free Login Campaign, you need the following things to be true: You need to have previously purchased and registered FFXIV (so no free trial players). All registered service accounts must be inactive, and they must have been inactive for 30 days. This means even if you’ve just lapsed for a month, it’s the perfect time to come back.
There’s a few more details, such as forfeiting your free login period if you do happen to resub during the time. Also, once activated, the free login period will end once it reaches the allotted free play duration regardless of whether you actually play the game. So maybe pick a weekend or a time when you have the time to play. Your fourth day of free login ends at 11:59pm (PST), regardless of when you started playing.
Overall, this is FFXIV teasing those crucial lapsed players back to the game with the promise of new content. But if you have been away for a while there is plenty to do. The Moogle Tomestone event kicked off earlier this week, and Valentione’s Day is returning on Feb. 7. Patch 6.55 came out on Jan. 16, and more. So if you know a lapsed subscriber, or are one yourself, now’s the perfect time to jump back into FFXIV.
