Final Fantasy Creator Opens Square Dev Office in FFXIV

Sakaguchi and his crew have finally decorated their Free Company home.

One of the previous times we checked in on Hironobu Sakaguchi, director of the first Final Fantasy and father of the entire franchise, he was attempting to tackle the game’s hardest content. Dragonsong’s Reprise (Ultimate) was in his sights, and although he didn’t succeed, it’s impressive that he tried at all.

But we were wrong. In fact, FFXIV’s hardest content is truly Housing (Savage). While the Ultimate can be cleared consistently with proper gearing, good timing, and a great Full Party, Housing is completely random. Will you win that lottery? Probably not, but good luck to you!

It seems that Sakaguchi has succeeded in clearing the barrier. At the end of last month, he created his own Free Company, Square. With the power of Free Companies, Sakaguchi’s Square has grabbed a house for itself.

In a tweet today, Sakaguchi revealed one of the interiors of his Free Company home. He even told people exactly where the home is. Sakaguchi resides on the Anima server in the Japanese Mana data center. According to his tweet, his FC home is in the Lavender Beds, 15th Ward.

He also wanted players to visit the home and read the notebook. “It will be in Japanese, but I am writing one FF developer’s word a day in our notebook. So please don’t write in the notebook, just read it,” he said in the tweet. Players have said that they’re going to create a character on the server just to read the notebook.

Sakaguchi has been just plowing through FFXIV. He started playing back in September last year, only to blaze through the rest of the game. Sakaguchi finished Heavensward in two days, Stormblood in six, and Shadowbringers in a mere four days. He’s been also interacting with every aspect of the game, from raiding to crafting. It’s amazing seeing the father of Final Fantasy showing so much love to FFXIV.
