FFXIV YouTuber Highlights the Game's Most Overlooked Grind

YouTuber Pint has showcased the Eureka grind, sparking new interest in this old content.

There’s plenty of grinds in Final Fantasy XIV, from Bozja to Blue Mage spells, but few are less complicated and harder than Eureka, Stormblood’s Relic Weapon grind. In fact, with only a few references to Eureka in the Main Story Quest (MSQ) at all, players would be forgiven for missing it if they never clicked on that blue quest marker in Kugane. But one YouTuber has highlighted the unforgiving Eureka grind in a new video.

In a new video released late on Feb. 1, entitled "I Beat the Hardest Sidequest in FFXIV", YouTuber Pint has shared the story of their grind within Eureka and it’s many zones. Pint, who originally shot to popularity with a series of World of Warcraft videos, has more recently become a staple of the FFXIV content creation scene.

Prior to this one, Pint’s previous FFXIV video, I Destroyed the Oldest World Record in FFXIV showcased the crazy world of Kugane Tower jumping puzzle speed runs. Now, this latest video has once again shone light on Eureka, an oft-forgotten piece of content.

The video itself is hilarious. As anyone who’s braved Eureka knows, the zones are pretty unforgiving, and few stick it out to the end of the grind. Pint explains that the motivation for beating Eureka isn’t the weapon or the armor, but Demi-Ozma, a mount only available from clearing the Baldesion Arsenal, a 56-player dungeon that sits at the end of the Eureka grind.

In search of the Ozma mount, Pint picks up the Warrior class to better solo the Eureka content, and before joining a community event to clear the Baldesion Arsenal. With the help of Big Green, a community raid leader, Pint tackles one of the most challenging pieces of mass-player content in the game - and that’s all that can be said without spoiling the whole video.

Overall, it just shows that even old content can have sparks of adventure and joy for newer players. After all, there’s over a decade of dungeons, raids, and grinds in FFXIV now, and after finishing the MSQ, players have only just scratched the surface.
