Yesterday, the winners were separated from the losers once again. Final Fantasy XIV’s housing lottery dropped its results, with players needing to claim their plots by June 4 at 7:59 am (PDT). Unfortunately, there are only a few plots and so many entrants, so a bunch of folks are gonna leave empty-handed. In fact, one player created a wonderful infographic to show how bad your chances of winning were.
Many of those folks took to social media to lament their losses. Some of these folks were utterly livid about losing out on the housing lottery. “I missed out, again, on the housing lottery. Our FC didn’t win the plot we had hoped for, and none of our members who put in for personal houses won,” said Reddit user Aiyakiu. “There were 40 people bidding on my plot. There were 170 on a large up the hill. They need to add more wards. Period. Like this is an unsustainable amount of disappointment made all the more obvious from the lotto entry numbers.”
Others were more whimsical in their sadness, including these two players who lost out on two different plots to the same winning number.

Or there’s this player, mirroring a severe break in Darkest Dungeon.

Another player was almost hopeful, with an edit of a webcomic standing in for their feelings on not getting their plot.
In the end, there were still a number of winners, who were super-excited to finally get their homes of all shapes and sizes. We applaud those finally getting a chance to enjoy housing in FFXIV and hope that those who lost out get a chance to win in the future. Remember, the next entry period also begins on June 4 at 8 am (PDT), with all bids needing to be placed by June 8 at 7:59 am (PDT). We haven’t settled on a housing system that make everyone happy, but hopefully the FFXIV team will keep hacking away at it until we get there.
