The wait is over. Final Fantasy XIV director and producer Naoki "Yoshi-P" Yoshida revealed the Dawntrail release date to an auditorium full of Warriors of Light live at PAX East during an FFXIV-specific panel.
FFXIV's Dawntrail will release on July 2, 2024 and those who pre-order it will have early access June 28. Pre-orders will begin at 9am locally on Tuesday, March 26, with the exception of those who purchased their game on Steam, whose presale will go live globally at 9am PDT.
This release date has been highly anticipated, especially after Yoshi-P didn't reveal it at Japan's Fan Fest, citing that they weren't quite ready to tell fans when the game would release, but promised that it would release no later than the summer months. Now that the release date is known, players will likely start telling their employers about their suddenly planned "vacations."
Dawntrail will see the addition of new story, new characters, and a bunch of new side content, such as the new limited job Beastmaster, new Beast Tribes, new characters, two additional DPS jobs — the Viper and Pictomancer — and much more.
The panel at PAX East was followed by a FFXVI panel where Yoshi-P revealed the release date for its new DLC Rising Tide, which debuts in a little under a month on April 18. While FFXIV players have to wait a little longer, the FFXVI questline will come to FFXIV on April 2.
This won't be the last time we hear from Yoshi-P and the development team about what players will see in 7.0. There's also a 14-hour broadcast that will likely kick off with a Live Letter from the Producers. At the time of writing, it's not confirmed that there will be a Live Letter, but fans speculate there will at least be some smattering of new information regarding Dawntrail during that broadcast.
