Tokyo Fan Fest has been a well of info for Final Fantasy XIV fans, but the reveal of the new limited job might just be one of the most exciting. That’s because FFXIV’s next Limited Job was confirmed to be Beastmaster, a beast-taming class that will be coming to the game in the next expansion, Dawntrail.
FFXIV director and producer Naoki “Yoshi-P” Yoshida confirmed that Beastmaster would be FFXIV’s next limited job during his opening Keynote presentation at the Tokyo Fan Fest on Jan. 7. Unfortunately, he didn’t have much for us in the way of information or details about the upcoming limited job but he did express that it would be coming some time late in the 7.X patch cycle (so not on Dawntrail’s release).

Beyond this, Yoshi-P did confirm that the Beastmaster class would be able to be played solo or with a party, but like other limited jobs, would not be able to take party in the latest, highest-level content.
Additionally, Yoshi-P described how the job would have a “collection feature,” implying Beastmaster might see players head out into the world and capture and collect the monsters they’re so used to fighting.
Yoshi-P ended the comments about the new limited job with an apology about not being able to share more: “Once we have art and more information, we’ll share it with you”
Limited jobs are a unique type of job in FFXIV, described as containing mechanics that are not balanced for grouping, so aren't able to queue for normal duties. Blue Mage was the first limited job, and Beastmaster will be the second.
The Beastmaster has been speculated to be a new job in Final Fantasy XIV for at least two expansions, with rumblings about the job first appearing due to the nature of Ran'jit in FFXIV’s Shadowbringers expansion (although it would turn out that Ran’jit is perhaps closer to a Reaper than any other job currently in-game).
To lend credence to the Beastmaster theories, players often pointed to FFXIV’s MMO predecessor Final Fantasy XI, which featured the Puppetmaster, an advanced job that allowed you to control an automaton. The Beastmaster is expected to follow in this jobs’ footsteps.
