Ballroom Etiquette - Defeatist Attitude Overview

Details

An illustrated manual showing the exact angle at which to hang one's head to express a sentiment of utter defeat. Use to learn the /slump emote.

Attributes

Final Fantasy XIV Patch 6.5 added a plethora of new additions to the game, but one of the most expressive of those was the new /slump emote. A definitive showing of defeat (and perfect to use after that latest full raid wipe), the /slump emote needs to be unlocked before it can be used to show how down your Warrior of Light is.

But before you can slouch and slump like a disgruntled teenager, you’ll need to engage in some player-versus-player combat (PvP). By taking part in PvP duties, such as Crystalline Conflict, Frontline, and Rival Wings, you’ll be able to obtain the emote.

How to unlock the /slump emote in FFXIV

To unlock the /slump emote, you’ll need to obtain the Ballroom Etiquette - Defeatist Attitude item. This is untradable and market-prohibited, so the only way to obtain it is by reaching level five of PvP Series 5. This means obtaining 11,000 Series Experience from PvP duties. Remember, you can obtain Series Experience from any PvP duty, not just Crystalline Conflict.

You’ll receive a varying amount of PvP Series Experience depending on what mode of PvP you choose and whether you win or lose. There’s also circumstances where you’ll receive more, such as by completing your daily Frontline Roulette in the Duty Roulette. As a result, you can expect to take between five to seven matches of PvP content to reach level five, although it could take a few more.

Once you’ve reached level five, you can redeem the emote from the Series Malmstone menu. To access this, head to the PvP Menu and select the Series Malmstone button. This should allow you to claim the Ballroom Etiquette - Defeatist Attitude manual. Once you’ve claimed it, activate it in your inventory and enjoy slumping to your heart’s content.
