How to Get the Tourmaline Weapon Minion in FFXIV

The Tourmaline Weapon is here to lend a hand — several, in fact.

Whether you're doing it for glory or reward, Final Fantasy XIV has plenty to offer to those who participate in the game's PvP modes. Among the many glamours, mounts, and minions available, one reward in particular has limited availability – the Tourmaline Weapon minion.

The Tourmaline Weapon is tied to PvP Series Five, which began alongside Patch 6.5. If you want to add it to your collection, you'll need to make significant progress through the series while it's active by participating in any PvP modes that FFXIV offers.

How to unlock the Tourmaline Weapon in FFXIV

The Tourmaline Weapon is the reward for completing the level 15 Malmstone of PvP Series Five. Square Enix introduced the first PvP Series in Endwalker's Patch 6.1, offering players yet another method of obtaining rewards. Completing a match of any of FFXIV's competitive modes gives Series EXP, which increases the progression of the current PvP Series' Malmstones. Each Malmstone has a specific EXP requirement for completing it, increasing as you progress through the series. When a Malmstone is completed, you're given a reward associated with the rank shown in the PvP Profile of the Character Menu.

A total of 43,000 Series EXP is required to reach level 15 and unlock the Tourmaline Weapon. With the most Series EXP from a single match being 1,500 from a first-place win in an instance of Frontline, you'll have plenty of PvP in your future if you're determined to add the minion to your collection.

Each PvP Series lasts for the duration of the current major patch, which means players will have the entirety of Patch 6.5 and its intermediary patches to chip away at the increasing Series EXP requirements of PvP Series Five. While the Tourmaline Weapon won't be available forever, the time window for obtaining it is wide. A Daily Duty: Frontline and a match of Crystalline Conflict a day is an excellent way to make progress without burning yourself out on the PvP grind too quickly.
