FF14 Fashion Report Week 74: Easy 80 Points

Shadowbringers is out, but we still need MGP. It's time for the FF14 Fashion Report!

The third Final Fantasy 14 expansion, Shadowbringers, is finally available for pre-order players. Of course, that hasn’t stopped the FF14 Fashion Report from swinging back around for yet another week. It’s still the absolute best way to farm MGP, and buy exclusive rewards. Don’t have the Fenrir mount yet? Well, that exclusive item alone will still cost you a whole one million MGP. So it’s time to get what’s coming to you with yet another FF14 Fashion Report guide.

It’s another fairly easy Fashion Report this week! The “easy 80” — the Fashion Report score that provides the maximum reward for minimal effort — isn’t bad at all. There are options for both Veteran Reward players and those that have Achievement Certificates to spend. The Fashion Report is also a bit easier if you play a female character. Let’s take a look!

FF14 makes no bones about making its players look good. Fashion is such an important aspect of the game, in fact, that developer Square Enix introduced the FF14 Fashion Report. This weekly challenge lets players play dress-up for fabulous prizes. Well, more specifically the challenge awards massive amounts of MGP (a special currency used in the Manderville Gold Saucer) that can be exchanged for prizes. You just need to earn the ever-elusive easy 80 points in the Fashion Report by wearing the correct clothing every weekend.

Special thanks to the indomitable r/kaiyoko for collating much of this data on the Final Fantasy 14 subreddit each week.

FF14 Fashion Report Scoring – The Basics

As always, you want to have at least one random piece of gear equipped to every slot on your character. This will earn you a minimum of 68 Fashion Report points for no work at all! It also doesn’t include Soul Crystals, so don’t worry about whatever Job you have equipped.

From there, you can increase your score by matching the categories laid out by the Fashion Report judge, as well as adding certain dyes. Matching the correct category of clothing to the weekly theme is worth anywhere from 6-10 points. The correct color of dye (e.g. grey, white, black, etc.) is worth one bonus point per slot, while finding the right shade of dye (e.g. Ice Blue, Chocolate Brown, etc.) is worth two points per slot.

Using dye to boost your Fashion Report score is typically easier than matching every category of item perfectly. That’s because most dyes are awfully cheap and accessible, while most pieces of clothing are expensive — or else require high ranks in crafting Jobs to create. That’s not always the case, of course, since some dyes are only available for special currencies or with real money from the Mog Station.

FF14 Fashion Report: Easy 80 Points for Week 74 – June 28, 2019

The easy 80 Fashion Report points for Week 74 are, in fact, pretty easy. That’s doubly true if you play a female character and/or if you’ve gained the trust of the Ixal Beast Tribe. That’s because one of the easiest items to acquire this week is the Black Summer Halter. You can purchase one for a single Cascadier Uniform Voucher. Just take it to Aelina in Revenant’s Toll and grab the bikini top. Just check her Uncanny Knickknacks selection.

You can acquire a Cascadier Uniform Voucher in one of two ways. The first is as a Veteran Reward; you’ll just get the item for purchasing 60 real-world days of game time. The second option is via achievements. You can turn in two Achievement Vouchers (acquired by completing in-game achievements in FF14) to Jonathas in Old Gridania. He will sell you Cascadier Uniform Voucher, which you can turn into Aelina.

Your options don’t end there, of course, and masculine characters still have plenty of options. The Moonfire Vest is also a viable choice — and should be available for very little gil on the market board. Your mileage may vary, of course, since the prices fluctuate between servers. The same goes for Hemiskin Brais of Fending or Maiming. Although these are much more expensive, and require you a level 60 DPS or tank class.

If you’d rather not spend gil, Hellfire Sabatons are also available to level 60 FF14 Jobs. You can buy them from Rowena’s Center for Cultural Promotion (coordinates 5.8-5.2) in Idyllshire. Instead of gold, these will set you back 245 Allagan Tomestones of Poetics. Odds are that high-level players will have plenty of these right now, since Shadowbringers reduced Tomestones of Genesis and Mendacity to the simpler currency.

Here’s a fuller list of Fashion Report options for Week 74:

  • Head – N/A
  • Body – Black Summer Halter (female characters only), Striped Summer Top (female characters only), Moonfire Vest
  • Hands – Diabolic Gauntlets of [Blank]
  • Legs –  Hemiskin Brais of [Blank]
  • Feet – Hellfire Sabatons of [Blank]
  • Earrings – N/A

If you have any one of these, or manage to acquire one, you can supplement the rest of your outfit by using two or more fully correct dyes. Bear in mind that you must supplement your outfit with at least two top-level dyes if you use only one of the gear items listed above.

It’s also worth noting that the best Fashion Report dye this week appears to be Soot Black. You can only purchase this outright after reaching a certain level of reputation with the Ixal Beast Tribe. That might be impossible to do this week, if you haven’t already started their questline. I might recommend just using two of the actual gear items above instead.

The best dyes for the FF14 Fashion Report this week are:

  • Weapon – Unknown…
  • Head – Unknown…
  • Body – Unknown…
  • Gloves – Soot Black (Ixal Beast Tribe)
  • Legs – Soot Black (Ixal Beast Tribe)
  • Feet – Soot Black (Ixal Beast Tribe)

FF14 Fashion Report Tips for This Week

This is another fairly easy week for the FF14 Fashion Report. Most people should be able to get the easy 80 points with little trouble — practically none if you’ve bought 60 days of game time. I recommend the Moonfire Vest as your number one option, if you can’t wear a feminine swimsuit in-game.

If you’re level 60, and not just on a healer, supplement the vest with the Hellfire Sabatons. Odds are that you have more Tomestones of Poetics than you know what to do with. And spending them now will give you some room to acquire even more without reaching the currency cap.

If you’re lower than level 60, things get trickier. Ixali Vendor dye is obviously the easiest — and very likely cheapest — way to complement your outfit. You can purchase two pots of Soot Black Dye for a pittance. But not everyone bothers to do their Beast Tribe quests… If you’re reputation is low, however, you can still craft Soot Black Dye yourself at level 30 on various crafting Jobs:

And, as is always the case, you must first complete the quest “Color Your World” to apply dye in FF14. You can start it at level 15 as any class by speaking to Swyrgeim in Western Thanalan (X: 12.6 Y: 14.3). Even if you can hit the easy 80 points this week without dyes, it’s well worth doing for future FF14 Fashion Report checks. You’ll even get a couple of free dyes for your trouble, to start! These are normal Dyemonger dyes. As such, they will often work for the FF14 Fashion Report in future weeks.

And there you have it! This should put you on the right path for the FF14 Fashion Report this week. Be sure to check in next Friday for another update, and instructions on how to farm your ~80,000 MGP. Until then, good luck and have fun out there, adventurers!
