The Tome of Ichthyological Folklore – Ilsabard and the Northern Empty is a consumable item in FFXIV. It is used to permanently unlock special fish for capture as a Fisher. Specifically, it will unlock access to rare fish found in Garlemald, Thavnair, and Labyrinthos. The associated fish will simply not spawn in a player’s game unless the tome has been consumed first. The same as every other fish associated with different regional tomes.
One Tome of Ichthyological Folklore – Ilsabard and the Northern Empty can be purchased from the Splendors Vendor in Radz-at-Han (X: 11.3, Y: 9.1). It requires 16 copies of Regional Folklore Trader’s Token C to buy. These tokens can, in turn, be purchased from any Scrip Exchange in the game. Such as the one on the Limsa Lominsa Lower Decks (X: 6.0, Y: 11.9) or The Studium in Old Sharlayan in exchange for Gatherers’ Scrips (White Gatherers’ Scrips as of FFXIV Patch 6.2).
Finally, use the tome from your inventory to permanently unlock it — and its fish — on that player character.
