Dragon's Dogma 2 Time-Limited Quests Explained

If you're wondering how time-limited quests work in Dragon's Dogma 2, here's what you need to know.

Dragon's Dogma 2 is finally here, and it's got both newcomers as well as longtime fans of Capcom's original fantasy RPG excited to start questing. From the secluded Elven woodlands to the mountainous regions surrounding Vermund, there are all flavors of new regions to explore. The highly anticipated sequel's map is a mind-boggling four times bigger than the first game's, making it perfect for an adventurer's journey. However, it also means that time-based mechanics may feel more stressful than before.

Unfortunately, there are indeed time-limited quests in Dragon's Dogma 2 just as there were in the original RPG. If you've played Dragon's Dogma in the past, you may remember how these quests work. If you're new to the series, you may find yourself concerned about completing such quests promptly. Time-limited quests do come with a bit of nuance as you'll have to finish their objectives more quickly than you would need to do with normal missions. While they're thankfully not as common as non-time-limited quests, they are often important and carry consequences if not completed on time.

You can always employ features such as fast travel to help ensure you complete time-limited quests without fail, but you first must learn how these high-stress missions work. If you're wondering how to tell whether or not a quest is time-limited, how long you may have to complete it, or what kind of consequences await you if you fail one, wonder no longer. We've got all of the answers here as we explain how time-limited quests in Dragon's Dogma 2 work.

Time-Limited Quests in Dragon's Dogma 2

While there are time-limited quests in Dragon's Dogma 2, you don't need to worry as much about them as long as you prioritize them. The game makes it quite easy to do so as you won't have to wonder whether or not a specific quest has such a limit thanks to a handy little hourglass symbol. If you navigate to your quest menu in-game, you'll spot a little glowing hourglass symbol beside any time-limited quest's name. This hourglass indicates that a quest is in fact a time-limited one, however, it doesn't specify how long you have to complete said quest.

As you won't have any note detailing the amount of time left to complete a time-limited quest, it's best to do one such quest as soon as you obtain it. More often than not, time-limited quests are steps in side stories rather than missions from the main questline, but this doesn't mean that they come without consequence. Not completing them in a timely manner could result in the death of a relevant character or the loss of any reward, which may affect your ability to do future side quests if they're a part of the same line you failed another in.
