Dragon's Dogma 2 Gaoled Awakening Quest Walkthrough

Easily get through all five steps of the Gaoled Awakening quest and begin your Dragon's Dogma journey.

The Dragon's Dogma series can be notoriously vague about its quests. A lot of times it won't tell you where to go. Instead, you need to talk to relevant NPCs or happen to have a pawn that has completed the quest before and can help lead the way. You may also get quest markers if you've been to a location before. But for those of you who just want some help, we've put together a guide for many of the quests in the game. This time around we're taking a look at Gaoled Awakening, the first quest in the game.

Quest Description

You awaken from a pleasant dream of plaudits and revelry to find yourself in a gaol call, with no memory of how you came to be there.

Step 1: Heed the Overseer

Follow the overseer's commands.

To start, simply follow the overseer out of the gaol (pronounced jail, if you didn't know). At first you are not yet allowed to sprint so you'll have to be content with walking until you get a little further.

Step 2: Pick Up a Boulder

Carry the boulder back to Rook.

After the overseer commands you to get to work, keep walking forward towards the yellow diamond with a sword in the middle. This is your quest objective. Jump into the pit, pick up a rock and bring it back to the pawn you were just talking to. Drop it and he'll talk to you.

Step 3: Investigate the Disturbance

Follow Rook, and find out the source of the commotion.

Nothing can ever go according to plan. Head back up the path and see what's going on.

Step 4: Fend Off the Beast

You are beset by a terrible beast. Rally your strength and fend it off!

Hack away at the Medusa and take some time to learn your abilities. During this first phase it won't attack you at all.

Step 5: Flee for Your Life

The stranger spoke truly; you must flee, that you might leave this place unscathed.

Run up the path with your pawn before jumping into the ocean. A pretty long cutscene will play, concluding this quest.
