How to Tell if Food is Rotten in Dragon's Dogma 2

Eat it if you dare.

In Dragon's Dogma 2, players must be aware of a new feature: food spoilage. This wasn't something you needed to worry about in Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen, but it introduces an additional challenge. Players must now monitor their inventory closely to manage food decay. This guide covers all you need to understand about managing perishable items in Dragon's Dogma 2.

How To Check if Food is Rotting

If you’re wondering how you can check if the food in your inventory is rotting, it’s rather simple. First, pull up your inventory and make your way through your items to the food that you’re concerned about.

Food takes time to spoil, and it goes through stages of rotting. It starts with it being fresh quality, and then progresses to ripened before hitting rotten. It also visually changes, and you’ll be able to tell when the food is on its way to rotten.

Dragon's Dogma 2 Golden Trove Beetle description

For example, if you have a Scrag of Beast, it will be a pink-red color when you first receive it. As time goes on, it will progress to dark, rotten-colored meat.

Although the food is rotten, you can still consume it. It will give you health back, but you will be inflicted with Blighted. So, the choice is yours as to whether you take the risk of eating it.

To still make the most of your rotten food, you can also create dried fruit. If you have some Apples in your inventory that have gone bad, you can dry them. Alternatively, if you make camp, you can cook your rotten food to get a health replenishment. It will give you significantly less health in return compared to food that is fresh, but it means that you are still getting bang for your buck.

That’s everything you need to know about how to check if your food is rotting and how to make the most out of it in Dragon’s Dogma 2.
