This Week in Helldivers 2 - One Small Stride for Man

Successful Major Orders and the return of a gigantic four-legged Automaton are just some of this week's highlights in Helldivers 2.

Super Earth's best always rises to the occasion. Following last week's unforeseen Automaton multi-planet reinvasion in Helldivers 2, the High Council tasked every soldier with defending planets overrun by the tin cans from outer space. Though our initial efforts resulted in a few failed defense campaigns, subsequent liberation-centric Major Orders have been completed smoothly and successfully.

As a result, several planets previously infested with villainous bots are now enjoying a healthy dose of Managed Democracy under Super Earth rule. Of course, that isn't all that's happened in the Galactic War this past week. The ever-shifting Sol System brought plenty of other intergalactic shenanigans, including the return of a colossally fearsome foe. So, if you were busy enjoying civilian life while the rest of us Helldivers were busy fighting for our lives, here's a recap of recent events to get you up to speed.

The Automatons Have Been Successfully Repelled...For Now

We did it. Each and every Helldiver must be commended for their valiant efforts this past week. The latest Major Orders, which involved liberating Marfark, Lesath, and Menkent from Automaton rule, were all successful and with plenty of time to spare. Although several, including Martale, Penta, and Matar Bay, still need a gentle push towards governmentally-enforced freedom, we are well on our way to bringing them into Super Earth's ever-growing colony.

But now is not the time to be complacent. If any of their previous attacks are any indicator, this is undoubtedly just the beginning for the murderous androids, especially after bringing back one of the most frustratingly powerful enemies in the Factory Strider.

It's Bug Squishin' Time

Meanwhile, a new Major Order has come in, and it's one that should keep us plenty busy for a few days two days. Super Earth High Command has tasked us with eradicating two billion (yes, you read that right) Terminids to replenish our E-710 reserves. This means your Eagle and Orbital stratagems are about to get a hardcore workout because there's a ton of exterminating to be done in order to prepare us for the next assault.

Now, if you prefer dismantling Automaton limbs, you may not have to wait long for another Major Order featuring the frustratingly sturdy bots. Based on the latest Major Order briefing, it seems we will be staging "a counter-offensive" as soon as we're finished harvesting Terminid juice. So stay on your toes because the real battles have just begun.

Factory Strider? I Barely Know 'Er

Yes, the humongous AT-AT-like Factory Striders have returned, and they are meaner than ever. So mean, in fact, that they now have their own missions at difficulties 4 (Challenging), 5 (Hard), and 6 (Extreme) dedicated to bringing them down. High Council-approved outlet Strohmann News revealed (via the Helldivers 2 Twitter/X account) that previous units may have just been prototypes. The ones we're encountering are finally the real deal and are being produced en masse, hence these monstrosities' frequent appearances in higher difficulties.

But worry not, fellow freedom fighter, because learning how to find and beat Factory Striders in Helldivers 2 is easier done than said. After all, if my squad can take down one of these behemoths, I have no doubt yours can, too. But if you find yourself overwhelmed by its Devastator-spawning belly, back-mounted turrets, and minigun-speckled undercarriage, you can always advance to the rear and live to fight another day.

More Super Destroyer Upgrades, Bug and Stability Fixes

Due to increased enemy threat, the Ministry of Defense has blessed us with a batch of Level 4 Modules to upgrade our Super Destroyer fleets. These include new handy Ship Modules, like the Superior Packing Methodology, which finally allows us to refill our support weapon magazines when taking one resupply box. But these cost a ton, and if you're still slogging through lower difficulties, you won't immediately be able to purchase them since they require a few ever-elusive Super Samples.

In addition, Arrowhead Game Studios released a much-needed patch this past week addressing an incorrect armor passive and a few crashing issues. Though I was lucky enough not to experience any of these drawbacks while playing, this will hopefully reduce, if not eliminate, the frequent crashing problems that a large portion of the player base often experienced.

Arrowhead has also acknowledged several other issues in the same patch notes, including the previously mentioned Superior Packing Methodology module not working as intended. This means a fix should arrive sooner rather than later, so you'll be able to enjoy full support weapon magazines with one resupply box soon enough.

That's it for this week in Helldivers 2! Make sure to tune into next week's edition so you can stay up to date with the latest Galactic War happenings — even if you aren't currently dropping in to help push Managed Democracy towards every corner of the Sol System.
