Smash Ultimate pulls from quite a few different series. Some are relatively obscure: like Ice Climber and Mother. Others were worldwide sensations long before Super Smash Bros. gave its massive rosters a main stage. And a few series get a lot more representation than others. That’s the case, as usual, with Pokemon. The series gets quite a lot of love in Smash Ultimate — in the form of items, spirits, and of course the roster.

This guide is all about Jigglypuff. The pink ball of perfection is just as angry as ever and has the move set to prove it. Some significant buffs have greatly improved their potential in Smash Ultimate.
According to the official Jigglypuff description on the Smash Bros. website…
Jigglypuff can jump 5 times in the air and can move faster in the air than on the ground. Use Jigglypuff’s great aerial ability to overwhelm your opponent! If you manage to land the down special Rest, you can powerfully launch your opponent.
Jigglypuff Moves
Rollout (B) – Charges up a rolling attack that can reach incredible speeds. Can change direction while rolling.
Pound (Side + B) – Steps forward and slaps opponents so hard they fly straight into the air.
Sing (Up + B) – Sings a soothing song that makes nearby opponents extremely drowsy.
Rest (Down + B) – Takes a well-earned nap that unleashes hidden power when touching a foe.
Puff Up (Final Smash) – Jigglypuff puffs itself up until it takes over the majority of the stage, then it rapidly deflates, launching nearby opponents. It’s super effective on small stages.
Strengths & Weaknesses
Strengths
There is a recurring nightmare I have had the last few days, and it is Jigglypuff constantly owning me with its Rest move. The Poké-gumball is still every bit the infuriating combatant it’s been since the Nintendo 64 days. Stall, bait, make your opponent break their controller, and then at the perfect moment, hit ‘em with the Down-B Rest to send ‘em flying. A lot of what makes Puff, Puff was buffed in Ultimate — either direct changes or overall mechanics. It’s good news for all you monsters out there.
Weaknesses
Jigglypuff’s weakness? Besides holy water, the Puffmaster is a bit of a glass cannon. Keep-away and aerial combat are Jigglypuff’s focuses, because the alternative means going toe-to-toe with foes who can really slam you off the stage. Despite some good recovery, it’s best not to let fighters like K. Rool or Chrom get too comfortable.
