Smash Ultimate couldn’t just fill up its roster with heroes. There are far, far too many interesting villains in the Nintendo catalog to do that. Ganondorf is one such baddie. The villainous Gerudo, with his powerful sword and imposing statures, is a perfect fit for the fighting game, too. But he’s certainly not along on the roster.
Smash Ultimate sports 74 different playable characters at launch — including every single previous character from the super-franchise and a bunch of fresh faces. That’s not even including the glut of DLC fighters, assist trophies, and more. There’s so much that no one person could possibly keep track of everything. That’s why we’ve compiled a guide to every single character.

Ganondorf got one helluva buff in Smash Ultimate. We’re not just talking about his spiffy new sword, either.
According to Ganondorf’s official Nintendo description…
His new design matches his appearance in The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time! Now he uses his sword for all his smash attacks. He’s a bit slimmer then he was before, but his Warlock Punch is devastating! For his final smash he transforms into Ganon, The Demon King and quickly charges forward.
Ganondorf Moves
Warlock Punch (B) – Channels dark energy into a devastating punch. Difficult to interrupt.
Flame Choke (Side + B) – Rushes forward to grab an enemy. Grabbed enemies are thrown straight down.
Dark Dive (Up + B) – Leaps upward and grabs opponents, electrocuting and launching them. It can’t be blocked by a shield.
Wizard’s Foot (Down + B) – Propels forward with a kick charged by dark power. In the air, he plunges diagonally downward.
Ganon, the Demon King (Final Smash) – Ganondorf transforms into a boar-like beast, stuns nearby opponents with his two gigantic blades, and then charges forward with full force to the edge of the stage. This move can hit all opponents in Ganondorf’s line of attack.
Strengths & Weaknesses
Strengths
The bad boy of Zelda is back and even more powerful than before. Looking less and less like the Captain Falcon clone he was back in Melee, Ganondorf packs a sword and huge damage potential. He’s faster and his specials all got tuned up a bit, too. Ganondorf is looking mighty frightening in Ultimate, so if you like to mercilessly dunk your opponent, but still want a little mobility compared to the bigger boys, he is a strong contender.
Weaknesses
The evil dude’s weakness still hovers around his recovery game, which is a little slow and predictable. Ganondorf is also a little one-note, with no big projectile options or anything that really changes up his game plan from sheer, brutal offense. When Ganondorf is in control, he owns the arena, but if the tables turn, it’s not so easy to recuperate.
Ganondorf Outfits
Ganondorf’s design in Smash Ultimate is based off his appearance in Ocarina of Time. He is, simply put, hotter than ever.
