Destiny 2’s Season of the Wish update previews a new Memento for crafted weapons, which will be available in The Dawning event. The Memento, called Rime Keepsake, can be found in-game on any crafted weapon in the inventory or vault. Players can try on the Memento shader when previewing the weapon, though it might take some time to find Rime Keepsake since it is mixed in with other shaders. Even though it says that a Memento is required to equip the shader, players can preview it just like any other shader.
Rime Keepsake is clearly going for an icy, wintery look — fitting for the Dawning’s winter holiday vibes. Being able to preview the Memento early means that players can test it out on their favorite crafted weapons and see whether it’s worth grinding for when the Dawning comes around in a few weeks.
As of yet, we do not know exactly how to earn the Memento, but it is possible that it will be a similar process to how the last seasonal event’s Memento was earned. In October’s Festival of the Lost event, each Eerie Engram had a small chance to drop the Lost Memento after players had completed certain event Triumphs. So if Rime Keepsake drops in a similar way, as long as players engage with the Dawning event activities and earn event engrams, they’ll have a reasonable chance of earning it.
Bungie has yet to confirm exactly when the Dawning will be this year. Last year’s Dawning ran from December 13 to early January. If this year follows suit, the most likely start and end dates would be December 12 until January 2.
