The Dawning 2023 has begun in Destiny 2 and with it a new slew of challenges and loot, including the new glaive exclusive to the Dawning and the Dawning Momento! Like holiday events before, there is a new shader you can get through the Dawning Event Card Challenges.
How to Get the Dawning Panache Shader
The new warm and pastel-tone shader is called Dawning Panache and you can earn it by completing the Shopping Spree challenge where you’ll need to purchase all 12 Dawning upgrades from Eva Levante with Dawning Spirit. These upgrades are what allow you to focus Dawning weapons, get them to drop with multiple perks, and snowballs deal more damage in activities.
For this challenge you’ll need a lot of Dawning Spirit, 345 to be exact. You’ll get the first 35 Dawning Spirit for completing the introduction quest with Eva Levante and you’ll unlock the Merrymaker upgrade right away. But after, you’ll need to be on the grind for more Dawning Spirit.
Some of the best ways to get Dawning Spirit is just by playing the game. If you’ve participated in The Dawning before, check your Collections to see if you have the Starfarer 7M ship. Equipping this will quickly speed up your Dawning Spirit collecting because of its intrinsic perk “Spirit of the Season.” This grants a chance to generate Dawning Spirit whenever you find a Dawning ingredient, which you get constantly from using a variety of weapons and subclass abilities to defeat different enemy types.
Outside of this, the fastest way is to start giving out cookies for chunks of Dawning Spirit! Make sure to make one of every cookie available to you in the Holiday Oven because this will allow you to Masterwork the oven. After this, making cookies will only cost half the ingredients it does normally, meaning more results for all your collected ingredients!

- Bountiful Harvest: 35 Dawning Spirit - Dawning bounties reward an additional random ingredient.
- Essential Harvest: 35 Dawning Spirit - Dawning bounties reward a small amount of Dawning Essence.
- Giftwrapped Exchange Ticket: 35 Dawning Spirit - Unlocks access to the Dawning Engram focusing option.
- Limited Exchange Ticket: 35 Dawning Spirit - Unlocks access to the Limited Gift Exchange focusing options.
- Perky presents: 35 Dawning Spirit - Dawning weapons have a chance to drop with an additional perk in the left column.
- Perkier Presents: 35 Dawning Spirit - Dawning weapons have a chance to drop with an additional perk in the right column.
Snowball Upgrades:
- Long Winter: 20 Dawning Spirit - Increases the duration of slow effects applied by snowballs.
- Longer Winter: 20 Dawning Spirit - Increases the amount of slow effects applied to combatants damaged by snowballs.
- Stay Frosty: 20 Dawning Spirit - Snowballs leave a Stasis mine on impact.
- Gift That Keeps on Giving: 20 Dawning Spirit - Shattering frozen combatants causes them to drop snowballs.
- Longest Winter: 20 Dawning Spirit - Snowballs instantly freeze combatants damaged by them.
