Avast Guardians, Season of Plunder is here! This space pirate-themed Destiny 2 season is all about crossing blades with Fallen House of Salvation, hunting for buried treasure, and working with everyone’s favorite scoundrel, the Drifter. Of course, there is a bunch of new loot to chase after including a whole suite of weapons that you can farm and craft. Of course, you’ll need to grind for the seasonal currencies, which are Treasure Coordinates and Map Fragments. While the latter is solely tied to Ketchcrash, the former is something you can earn in a number of different locations. Here’s how to get and farm for Treasure Coordinates this season:
How to Get Treasure Coordinates
Similar to other currencies, you can earn Treasure Coordinates by completing activities. This item is rewarded upon completion of everything from Strikes to Crucible and Gambit matches. You’ll unlock this feature about halfway through this week’s story quest, but I recommend you start grinding after finishing it entirely. Once you can start farming Treasure Coordinates in Destiny 2, there are a number of different ways you can earn this but I recommend completing Public Events. During my testing, all playlist activities rewarded me around 40-45 Treasure Coordinates while Heroic Public Events gave me 35.
Given you can complete a Heroic Public Event in around 3-5 minutes, this makes them the ideal farming method. I recommend going to a big destination such as the EDZ or Nessus, as you can always find one about to begin near a spawn point. Once you have some of this material stocked up, go into your quest tab and select the Captain’s Atlas. From here you can select which map you’d like to spend your Treasure Coordinates on so you earn some rewards at the end of the Expedition. Make sure to have a slot open in your inventory when hunting for Treasure Coordinates, so consider storing some items you don’t need in the vault!
You’ll also need Map Fragments, which you can get by just completing Ketchcrashes. Finishing one will earn you 10, but make sure to stay until the timer completely runs out. For whatever reason, the rewards don’t drop right when you open the chest but a few seconds after it. Finally, consider wearing some of the new seasonal armor as they boast the perk Plunderer’s Trappings which increase the amount of Treasure Coordinates you earn by 5%. This stacks up to 4 times, for a maximum of 20% extra. This can save you a lot of time when farming this material, so you’ll definetly want this armor set.
Finally, you can earn sometimes earn Treasure Coordinates by killing combatants if you’ve unlocked the Hire Halsiks the Sniper upgrade in the H.E.L.M. It won’t be a lot, but it’s a nice way to passively obtain more Treasure Coordinates as you play through all the new seasonal content.
