One of the big changes for Destiny 2’s new Season of the Chosen is the replacement of weekly vendor bounties. Instead, your quests tab has a new hub for new Seasonal Challenges. For the first ten weeks of each season, Bungie will be adding new weekly quests via this new system in an effort to make up for the lost XP and Bright Dust rewards. In this guide, we’ll be looking at the Destiny 2 Season 13, Week 1 challenges and offering some tips for fast completion.
How Do These New Challenges Work?
The new weekly challenges work about how you’d expect them to. Each week, Bungie will be adding more though there won’t be a specific number of challenges each time. You have until the end of the season to complete them, so no worries if you’re not keeping up with the progression as you go. In fact, waiting makes it a bit easier to complete the whole thing faster as you can earn progress across multiple challenges at once.
Completion Tips
For the fastest possible completion, we recommend completing the playlist requirements first.
- Use Rocket Launchers.
- Complete Challenger’s Proving quest.
- Complete five Battlegrounds runs, smashing open a chest at the end.
- Complete ten bounties on Europa using Kinetic weapons. Run Heroic Events to get Cabal Gold.
- Complete Gambit matches.
- Play the Mayhem playlist in Crucible until you hit 50 kills using roaming Supers.
- Play Fallen strikes.
Contender’s Ascent
Report to the War Table in the HELM and complete the Challenger’s Proving quest. Then defeat Cabal with Rocket Launchers anywhere in the system.
- Complete Challenger’s Proving
- 75 Rocket Launcher Kills
Rewards: XP, Code Duello Rocket Launcher, Empress Emblem, Medium War Table Reputation
For this challenge, you simply need to progress through Season of the Chosen’s main quest line and get 75 Rocket Launcher kills. This is obviously done fastest in a PVE activity. Battlegrounds seems like a great fit for this as heavy ammo chests will periodically spawn.
Golden Reaper
Acquire 100 Cabal Gold by playing strikes, Gambit, Crucible, public events, and more.
Rewards: XP, Medium War Table Reputation
As per our guide, Cabal Gold is earned by completing various activities. We recommend completing Heroic Public Events if you’re specifically grinding for this challenge. Completing one with the Heroic modifier will reward 8 Cabal Gold. Given how fast these can be completed, you can easily earn quite a bit in just under 30 minutes. Do them on Europa to also earn progress towards the Icebound challenge.
Otherwise, you’ll likely earn a big chunk of the 100 Cabal Gold simply by completing the other challenges here.
Crash and Converge
Smash five Tribute Chests and focus five Season of the Chosen Engrams using charges from the Hammer of Proving.
Rewards: XP, Medium War Table Reputation
This one’s simple. Play Battlegrounds and open chests at the end. Focus those Season of the Chosen engrams as you can.
Lenses in Focus
Participate in the Battlegrounds playlist to unlock your first lens.
Rewards: XP
Self explanatory. Jump in and get going!
Challenger’s Aspiration
Complete three weekly playlist challenges.
Rewards: XP, Bright Dust
Icebound
On Europa, earn progress by completing bounties, patrols, public events, and Lost Sectors.
- Must complete at least ten bounties.
Rewards: XP, Bright Dust
Make sure you pick up your bounties and then do what you’d normally do on Europa. The next challenge asks you to get kills with Kinetic weapons so make sure to use that.
Hail of Bullets
Calibrate Kinetic weapons on Europa. Earn bonus progress in Lost Sectors.
Rewards: XP, Bright Dust
Dredgin’ Up Victory
Complete 15 Gambit matches. Earn bonus progress for wins.
Rewards: XP, Bright Dust
Flourish of Power
Defeat 50 Guardians in the Mayhem playlist with Super abilities
Rewards: XP, Bright Dust
Obviously for this one you’re going to want a powerful roaming super. One cast supers are great, but they don’t provide the flexibility that their counterparts come with.
Dominance Operandi: Fallen
Defeat 200 Fallen combatants in strikes. Earn bonus progress for defeating tougher combatants.
Rewards: XP, Bright Dust
Don’t play the strike playlist. Instead manually select Exodus Crash or the “new” Devil’s Lair or Fallen Saber strikes.
