Disclaimers About This Tier List
This Tier List ranks Pals on their base type, power, ease of catching, and general abilities. Keep in mind that Pals have different passive and active skills, so a lower-tier Pal with great passive or active skills might outperform a higher-tier Pal without them. This list also only considers Neutral Pals to be those with pure Neutral typing.
Best Neutral Pals in Palworld - Tier List
Neutral Pals are the bread and butter of Palworld. Often times the first Pals you'll meet, these Pals have the dubious honor of being the only elemental type to be strong against no other types, which unfortunately limits their usefulness in battle at higher levels. That being said, though, don't make the mistake of underestimating them - these Pals may be Neutral in name, but they'll have no problem charging headfirst at you if you annoy them.

How We Ranked the Best Neutral Pals
When coming up with our rankings for the best Neutral Pals, we looked at several different categories: power, Partner Skills, Active Skill pools, how easy it is to obtain them, and general overall usefulness. Here's what our Tiers mean at a glance:
- S-Tier: The best of the best, Pals in this category are the best in almost every situation.
- A-Tier: Great in all situations, these Pals are well-rounded and will be more than adequate for most players.
- B-Tier: Average to Good in a wide variety of situations, these Pals are solidly useful, but may be outpaced by higher tier Pals.
- C-Tier: These Pals are not generally recommended, however they still can find situational usefulness.
- D-Tier: The worst Neutral Pals - unless you have no other options, not recommended for long-term use.
S-Tier Neutral Pals: The Best Neutral Pals
The absolute best of the best - this Neutral Pal would make for the perfect addition to any team - if you can manage to catch it.
The undisputed Neutral Pal Powerhouse, Paladius is our S-Tier pick. Packing an absolute wallop with its exclusive ability Spear Thrust, it also rounds out the weakness in move types that Netural Pals have by incorporating a powerful Ice ability into its roster. Add on to that the fact that you can ride it, and it can triple jump, makes for great utility - Paladius can fit where most Flying Mount Pals can't, meaning in those tight places like mineshafts!
A-Tier Neutral Pals
While not quite S-Tier, our A-Tier picks are versatile, powerful Pals that make for a great addition to any team.
Eikthyrdeer, Kingpaca, and Fenglope are all Mount Pals, but that's not their only good trait. Each of these three Pals is also a powerhouse, able to use high-power Ground or Ice moves in addition to their Neutral moveset. Along with that, their Partner Skills are varying levels of useful - and their Work Suitabilities mean that they're great on a team or in a Base.
One Pal in the A-Tier stands out as an oddball, however - and that's Lovander. Healing is an incredibly powerful and rare Partner Skill for a Pal to have, and Lovander is unique in the fact it is one of only two Pals that can heal the player via life steal effects. It's also fairly strong - although the actual useful power level on a move like Implode can certainly be debated.
B-Tier Neutral Pals
B-Tier Pals are solid middle-of-the-pack choices - each with something a little special to make them stand out.
Neutral Pals seem to have been designed with Base functionality in mind, because from B-Tier on, many of their Partner Skills are mediocre at best. Nitewing, Grintale, and Galeclaw find their niche due to being able to be used as a Flying Mount, Ground Mount, and a Glider respectively, even if they aren't as powerful as some higher-ranked Pals.
On the other side of things, Gorirat and Lunaris both serve very well as mid-to-early endgame Base Pals, having good Work Suitability to keep things running smoothly on assembly lines. Of the two, Lunaris has better power, but Gorirat has the better Partner Skill, so it's a trade-off with personal preferences as to which Pal may be better suited in each case.
C-Tier Neutral Pals
Our C-Tier Pals suffer from the niche use curse - while in specific situations they're great, those situations just don't happen very often.
So many of these Neutral Pals have Base-related Partner Skills that it's hard to imagine a player not building a farm of some type. Lamball, Chikipi, Cremis, Mozzarina, Woolipop, and Melpaca all become resource-generating Pals when assigned to a Ranch, but outside those specific farms, don't see much use. Meanwhile, Ribbuny might find a niche spot in an all-Neutral Pal team, but unless you're running four Paladius Pals with one Ribbuny, this doesn't seem like the most effective move. Direhowl serves as the first likely Ground Mount you'll see, but it's quickly outpaced by even the slowest Flying Mounts at level 15, and just can't quite keep up.
An honorable mention on this list has to go to the Pal with the single strongest move in the game: Tocotoco. This Pal comes out of left field with the monstrous 250 Power Megaton Implode ability, which will absolutely bring down whatever you need it to - at the small cost of Tocotoco's life. What's 10 minutes of healing in a Palbox for the ability to run at your enemies and explode?
We wish these Pals had more versatile uses - unfortunately, outside of their specific niches, these aren't the Pals for a hard-hitting team.
D-Tier Neutral Pals: The Worst Neutral Pals
Unfortunately, there always has to be a Pal that wins the title of Worst Neutral Pal - and two Neutral Pals can claim this title.
Vixy just isn't a useful Pal. It has awful moves, a Partner Skill that's niche at best and just plain bad at worst, and basically nothing to write home about for work suitability. It's cute, and it's easily found at early levels, so it does have that going for it - but outside of those two things, this Pal is just a line in the Paldeck.
Similarly, Cattiva sees little use because, while its Partner Skill is great for the first hour or so of the game, it's quickly outmatched by better Pals. Similarly, it's many Level 1 Work Suitabilities only work in its favor before you get a Pal variety built up; once you do, it can't focus on its task, frequently running around and being inefficient. On top of that, its power scaling is absolutely atrocious - even at level 40, Cattiva is learning a 50 power move, meaning it will hit like a weak kitten on harder Pals.
These Pals just couldn't quite cut it - and we recommend bringing any other Pals on this list along on your adventures before these two.
