It Turns Out Attacking Younglings Saves Time in LEGO Star Wars

We're sorry for doubting you, Anakin.

If you were watching Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith back in 2005 and saw Anakin Skywalker kill a bunch of Younglings and thought, “that should be replicable in a video game,” Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga does, in fact, let you attack children. But instead of doing so because you were tricked by a baddie, doing it in the latest Star Wars game actually does have a tangible benefit: it gives you the superpower of flight.

If that all sounds ridiculous to you, it’s because it is. But players who have been playing the new Star Wars video game adaptation have discovered that you can attack children in Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga, but they don’t actually take any damage. And since they can’t die, you can just chain combos on them all you want. Including airborne ones that move your character ever so slightly forward as they viciously attack a child with a lightsaber. As such, attacking a child in this game is a roundabout way to just fly through the air. So who knows if we see this somehow implemented into speed runs to cross great distances or glitch into a later segment of the game? I don’t think this is the practical application of The Force that George Lucas expected, but I also don’t think when he first started work on the original movie he expected child murder to be so intrinsic to the character of Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader, to the point where it’s a meme in 2022.

More Star Wars:

Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga is out on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S, and retells the story of all nine of the mainline Star Wars films. And it sounds like it’s a reminder that Star Wars doesn’t always have to be dour.
