Rogue Legacy 2 Tips
Always Scan the Room Before Destroying Objects
If you’re like me, you’re probably storming into each and every room attacking first and exploring later. The problem is that acting as recklessly as this may cost you a reward or two. Whenever you enter a new room, take a quick glance at the minimap — if you see a gold chest icon, it means there is a chest somewhere in the room. You may have to climb upon objects or event enemies to get to it, so keep this in mind or you may get rid of the only way to climb and grab the treasure.
You Can Spin Kick Those Spike Balls
Spin Kick is my favorite ability in Rogue Legacy 2, and it turns out you can use it on more than just enemies and static objects. The floating spike balls that usually roam around rooms can be spin kicked to get to higher areas. It also makes for a great way to avoid getting hurt in case you end up falling on top of one — just Spin Kick your way out of danger before touching it.
You Can Destroy Spike Vines
Speaking of danger, the spike vines are truly annoying, but you can destroy them beforehand. Either go for melee attacks from one of the sides (if it’s possible) or use spells to destroy them, clearing the path ahead. That being said, exiting the room and returning later will make them respawn, but it’s still useful when you’re dealing with enemies and need the clear ground to move around.
If You Get Lost in a Higher Level Area, Consider Farming a Bit
You may end up in higher-level areas by mistake as you’re exploring, and usually, this doesn’t involve having enemies attacking you right away. As such, one of the Rogue Legacy 2 tips to keep in mind is to spend some time farming if you’re able to. A couple of mobs may not be as bad as they seem, but the chests and usual loot are guaranteed to be better, so it’s definitely worth pursuing.
Even if you can only make progress through a couple of rooms, you may end up with a few thousand gold coins early on, which is super useful.

Some Spells Can Travel Across Walls
While this doesn’t apply to every single spell, it’s worth knowing some can get through walls and other platforms. This is great considering you can cheese your way out of certain enemy encounters if the map layout helps; at the same time, this also applies to enemies. As you go through the game, keep an eye out for specific spells and see if they stop at walls and floors or just continue moving toward you. Learning how they work early is going to save you a headache or two later on.
Unlock Mastery Rank Asap
There are many useful unlocks in the manor, but you should focus on the Mastery Rank unlock as soon as possible. This adds an additional way to level up that is specific to classes — the more progress you make with a class, the more experience you’ll get. After some time, leveling up is going to grant some cool passive bonuses to all future characters of said class. Prioritizing this is key so you’re making the most out of each run through the castle.
Weapons and Armor Carry Over to Other Runs
Purchasing weapons and armor from the blacksmith can be costly, but it’s worth the effort. The purchases you make aren’t for one-time uses; instead, they unlock the gear piece for all subsequent runs. That being said, you can opt to either enable or disable them each time in case you don’t want your Resolve to be affected much.
If You’re About To Get Hit Next to Another Room, Head to the Room to Cancel the Attack
For the last of our Rogue Legacy 2 tips, I encourage you to make the most out of rooms resetting attacks to escape from harm. If you’re about to be hit by an enemy but you also happen to be close to a corridor that leads to another room, you can go ahead and move out of the way. From there, feel free to either return or look for a health item in case you’re low on HP. The world is your oyster — as long as you learn how to navigate it properly and use its conditions to your advantage.
