First Animal Crossing Billionaire Starts Fundraiser for Nashville Animals

The first Bellionaire in the GameCube Animal Crossing.

If only all real billionaires were this generous, the world would be a much better place.

Reddit user BrianMp16 announced earlier today that he has achieved the never-before-won accomplishment of becoming the first billionaire in the GameCube version of Animal Crossing through legitimate means.

“Since Animal Crossing was released on September 16th, 2002, players worldwide have legitimately acquired every possible item in the game except one – the Post Model,” he said in the original thread where he announced the stream of the event. “This item has been considered the holy grail of Animal Crossing games due to the overwhelming amount of time and effort needed to get it by maxing out your bank account at 999,999,999 Bells.”

He says it’s an item most players have used cheat codes to achieve, but there hasn’t been a person who has done it in a legitimate way. He had set up several rules for this challenge, which he noted in a list of frequently asked questions as, “NO glitches, NO Nook Codes, one town only, time-traveling permitted by advancing time no more than one day at a time.” In the post, he elaborates on his particular method of achieving this goal, which — as is the case in real life, obviously — involved many, many turnips.

He streamed his accomplishment on Friday, March 6th, 2020, two weeks before the anticipated release of Animal Crossing: New Horizons.

After the celebration, he used his platform to talk about the Nashville, Tennessee tornado disaster that occurred last week. At least two dozen have been confirmed dead, many more were injured, and the destruction of infrastructures has been widespread, with 48 collapsed structures around the city. BrianMP16 notes that the charity, volunteer work, and relief efforts for everyone affected by the tragedy has been inspiring to watch unfold — inspiring enough to motivate him to take part in helping a particular group.

“Amid the disaster, an article caught my attention bringing light to another group affected by the disaster — animals,” he writes in today’s thread. “Families left temporarily homeless who had no choice but to give up their pets from the disaster, as well as all the animals in a Nashville animal shelter that was damaged by the tornadoes, have become homeless themselves. I did some research on various animal shelters helping out with this tragedy and found PAWS Chicago — a no-kill animal shelter who is providing extensive volunteer service to rescue, house, heal, and adopt the animals harmed by the Nashville tornadoes.”

As a result, he has extended his streaming schedule to fundraise for PAWS Chicago throughout this weekend from 3 p.m EST to 11 p.m EST. His goal is to raise $3000 by the end of his stream on Sunday.

If you’d like to donate to the shelter and have it count toward his donation goal, you can go here. In a post addressing frequently asked questions regarding the fundraiser, he has provided information on his streaming incentives for donating, such as random donators being picked to name and choose the next villagers he will create to get 100% completion in his town.

BrianMp16’s generosity and kindness is a heartwarming sight to behold. It reminds me of Tom Nook mentioning that he donates 90 percent of his proceeds to an orphanage in a nearby town — though, here, we have actual proof of those donations. We hope the first billionaire in the GameCube Animal Crossing reaches his goal so that the people and animals of Nashville can sooner recover from last week’s horrific tragedy.

Real-life billionaires, take notes.
