Tiny Tina's Wonderlands Respec Guide - How to Respec Your Skills

Put some respec on Tiny Tina.

Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands is officially live and it’s time to roll for initiative! Set in the Borderlands equivalent of Dungeons & Dragons, players will join explosive aficionado Tiny Tina and her crew in a game of Bunkers and Badasses. While this title retains the same shooter-looter design of the core entries, it embraces a medieval setting that’s constantly changing under the whims of your Bunker-Master.

While there are some notable differences between this game and the main series, the core loop of shooting enemies, getting loot, and earning skills to improve your character remains. Boasting six unique classes, each with its own skill tree, there’s a decent amount of flexibility to build your preferred fantasy character. Thankfully, Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands allows players to respec not only their individual Skill Points but also their Hero Points. Here’s how to use this feature if you want to make some changes to your Fatemaker:

How to Respec Your Skill and Hero Points

In order to unlock respeccing, you need to progress through the main campaign until you complete the quest that has you tracking down the Sword of Souls. It’s a fairly simple quest that ends in a boss battle against the appropriately named Zomboss. Upon defeating this character, you will be ushered back to Brighthoof, which will be fully restored via the power of the sword. The next quest will have you visit all the stores, including Izzy’s Fizzies. Inside this establishment, you will find a Quick-Change Machine (location circled above) that can be used to respec your character.

Interact with the large glowing machine and then hold down X (Xbox) / Square (PlayStation) to bring up the respec menu. You will be asked if you want to respec your skills, hero points, or both. Skill Points are what’s used in your character’s talent tree to unlock and improve abilities. For example, a Skill on my Graveborn is Dark Pact, which increases my Dark Magic damage with each level. Each Skill has a level limit — you can only dump so many points into each one.

As for Hero Points, these are used to improve your basic stats like Strength and Dexterity. Hero Stats are passive buffs that won’t change regardless of what character class you’re playing — they will be the same for my Graveborn as it will for someone’s Clawbringer. While the game suggests the ideal Hero Stat to improve for each class, the choice is ultimately up to you. Once you decide what you want to respec, you’ll need to pay a specific price in gold that will be equal to 10 percent of how much gold you currently own. This can make it pretty pricy the farther you get into the game. But so long as you’re not completely broke, you should almost always have the option to respec.

Finally, you cannot change your class, however, you can add a second class’ abiltites and skill tree to your character upon completing the quest Thy Bard, With a Vengeance. This acts as a second skill tree, allowing you to use the abilities and skills of another class despite not picking it from the start. For example, I started on Graveborn, but now have access to the Spellshot skill tree as well. While you will get a chance to alter your secondary class at the end of the main campaign, in order to completely get a new class you’ll need to start a new game.
