The next horrifying installment of the Resident Evil series has finally arrived. Continuing the story of Ethan Winters following the events of Resident Evil 7, Resident Evil Village sees our titular hero venture into a mysterious eastern European town to save his kidnapped baby. Throughout your journey, Ethan will encounter all sorts of horrific monsters, eccentric characters, puzzles, and familiar faces. There are also a bunch of fucked up monsters that will try to kill you, which is never ideal. One of these is Strum, a reanimated monster with a massive plane propeller welded to the top half of its body. Frequently harassing you throughout Heisenberg’s factory, you’ll eventually get to have a one on one showdown with this boss.
How to Beat Strum
Strum is an obnoxious fight. Not only is the arena you’re in very confined, but Strum’s weak point is pretty small. Similar to the other metal abominations in the factory, Strum’s weakness is the glowing circle on the back of his engine. When the fight starts, you will have a ton of walls separating the arena into different rooms. Your first job should be to clear all of these out via Strum’s charge attack. Position yourself so a wall or two are between you and Strum. Once you hear it start charging, run out of the way so it doesn’t hit you. This will cause Strum to shatter the wall, giving you more room to move. Keep this up until you have enough of the arena’s walls broken.
Now that you have some breathing room, you will want to keep your distance from Strum. Whenever it charges, step to the left or right and immediately turn 180 degrees. Bring out your sniper, magnum, or handgun and shoot the glowing orange circle on its back. It should emanate sparks and flash a bright pink when shot. Nothing will change, just keep dodging Strum’s charge, shooting its back, and keeping far away from this boss. Eventually, Strum will catch fire and that’s when the fight really heats up. (God, I’m so sorry)
Once Strum’s engine is up in flames, it will gain a new ranged attack that spews out a column of flames in front of it. While you can dodge this by moving to the far sides of the room, the best method is to actually rush Strum and get behind it. When it performs this attack, Strum is locked into the animation so it actually can’t move. Because of this, you can easily move behind it, pull out your shotgun, and lay into his weak point. Just be ready to run after you hurt it, as Strum will typically turn around to face you.
You’ll also need to be careful of the fire lying around the arena. Try your best to avoid it, but don’t risk getting hit by Strum if it means taking some brief fire damage. You will do this for the rest of the fight, so get used to dodging his charge and rushing it when the machine begins charging up. So long as you clear out all the walls, you should have no problem taking this monstrosity down.
