E3 2019 Microsoft Press Briefing Reactions - Keanu, Halo Infinite, and Project Scarlett

Keanu. Do we need to say more? Without Sony by its side, Microsoft swung for the fences this year. It delivered a much anticipated look at Cyberpunk 2077, a confirmation of Project Scarlett for release next year, and locked in Halo Infinite as a launch title. Overall it was a solid 90 minute presentation though it did drag at times. To be fair though, it really is hard to follow up Keanu.

Keanu Reeves and Cyberpunk 2077

Keanu is in Cyberpunk! Let’s just say all of us that didn’t go to the Microsoft press conference regret not being in the same room as the Keanu Reeves.

Editor-in-Chief John Warren and Managing Editor merritt k discuss what we saw from CD Projekt Red in the above video.

We’ll be seeing more of Cyberpunk later this week during the actual E3 convention. Stay tuned for more thoughts and impressions!

Cyperbunk 2077 releases on April 16, 2020.

Halo Infinite and Project Scarlett

Later in the show, Microsoft shared some basic details of Project Scarlett. There’s no official name, but we do know that it will utilize “the latest Zen 2 and Radeon RDNA architecture” and “high bandwidth GDDR6 memory, and a next generation solid state drive (SSD).” Thanks Microsoft. Scarlett will also have “hardware accelerated raytracing, variable refresh rate, 8K capability and ultra-low latency input.”

And Halo Infinite will be a launch title. Not much was shown though, which didn’t exactly leave Ryan and Niki, who talk about it in the above video, jumping for joy.

ID@Xbox

On the ID@Xbox front, John and merritt talk 12 Minutes and its similarities to Outer Wilds, which they liked. They also talk about the deer game that was Way to the Woods and Spiritfarer, the game with an anthropomorphic weirdly attractive deer.

Oh and The Outer Worlds, we talk about that too. Please try not to confuse the two like I have over and over during these two paragraphs.
