As much as it’s about liberating the galaxy from enemies, Helldivers 2 is about pageantry, capes, fancy armor, and impressive titles. The game periodically rewards players with a new title, or rank, which they can display below their name for all to see.
The ranks in Helldivers 2 offer no mechanical advantages and are mostly linked to the player's level, with one exception. However, in the future rather than increase the level cap, Helldivers 2 developers Arrowhead Game Studios might include additional titles earned in other ways. At the time of writing this was not the case though.

How to Equip Titles in Helldivers 2
You can change or equip a new title in Helldivers 2 while you’re stationed on your Super Destroyer ship. To do this, head to the Armory located on the left (port) side of your ship, in the corridor leading to the Galactic War console.
In the Armory menu, Titles will be the bottom selection in the Character section. Select the title you want to be known by, and select “equip” to have it be visible under your name plate in the bottom left-hand corner of the screen.
Why are the Highest Ranks Private and Super Private?
Like many elements of Helldivers 2, it’s thought the top ranks and titles being Private and Super Private is related to Paul Verhoeven’s 1997 adaptation of Starship Troopers. In that film, the character of Sergeant Charles Zim takes a demotion to Private to fight the bugs, becoming a hero when he captures a Brain Bug.
As a result, the second highest rank you can obtain in Helldivers 2 is Private, followed by Super Private, because of course, this is Super Earth.
