The most crucial component of a vehicle is not the flashy exterior or the spinning rims, but the engine. In the LEGO version of Fortnite, a sustainable energy source has been introduced for the new ground vehicles. To create Power Cells in LEGO Fortnite, you need to gather specific materials and follow certain steps outlined in the game's crafting system.
How to get Power Cells
Getting Power Cells to make your contraptions come to life - and by life, I mean move - then you are going to have to play through a decent chunk of the game unless you are playing Sandbox Mode. First of all, you will need to upgrade your base Crafting Bench to a Rare one. Let's start with the Uncommon Upgrade.
- 8x Plank: Process Wood at a Lumber Mill.
- 3x Shell: Defeat Rollers, most commonly known as crabs.
And now, with the Rare Upgrade:
- 12x Knotroot Rod: Process Knotroot - found in Grasslands caves at a Lumber Mill.
- 15x Marble Slab: Process Marble - found in Grasslands caves - in a Stone Breaker.
- 6x Sand Claw: Defeat Wolves in the Dry Valley region.
- 3x Sand Shell: Defeat Rollers in the Dry Valley region.
While this is the first step toward making Power Cells, the actual use of the Uncommon Crafting Bench will come in later. This is because you will need to work a bit on the two main resources that make up Power Cells: Biomass and Glass.
How to Get Biomass in LEGO Fortnite
Let's talk about Biomass first. To craft it, you will need to first build a Compost Bin, which will require the following resources:
- x5 Plank.
- x2 Soil: With a Shovel, dig into any grassy area.
- x2 Sand: Use the shovel in a Sandy area - either at a beach or at the Dry Valley - to collect it.
- x3 Fertilizer: Wait for friendly animals to drop these. You know what I'm talking about, right?
After you have built your Compost Bin, process any organic material you have. Bones and meat are great options and are found often during your travels. The processing will take quite a bit, but you will eventually get the Biomass you need.
How to Get Glass in LEGO Fortnite
Getting Glass will also require you to build a new construct. This time is the turn of the Metal Smelter. This will take a while because the recipe of the Metal Smelter unlocks when your Village reaches Level 9. Moreover, you will need to get a Rare Pickaxe to collect several materials that will either help you build the Smelter or make Glass.
This is why we upgraded our Crafting Bench to Rare in the first place. So, with that being said, here is the recipe for a Rare Pickaxe:
- 3x Flexwood Rods: Process Flexwood - dropped from cacti in the Dry Valley region - in a Lumber Mill.
- 3x Sand Claws: Defeat Wolves in the Dry Valley region.
To make the Metal Smelter, you will need the following resources:
- 15x Flexwood: Cut cacti in the Dry Valley region.
- 15x Obsidian: Mine it from Dry Valley caves.
- 10x Cut Amber: Process Amber - found across the Dry Valley region - at a Gem Cutter.
Finally, crafting the Glass we need for the Power Cells will require these last two materials that you will need to process at the Metal Smelter:
- 2x Sand.
- 1x Brightcore: Mine it from Lava Caves in the Dry Valley region.

Once you have six pieces of Glass and 50 pieces of Biomass, you will be able to use the Crafting Bench we built before to make the Power Cell. Now you will be able to use these to power your vehicles whether they are custom-made or the base Speeder, Offroader, or Hauler.
