Square Enix has unveiled an incredible mosaic composed of screenshots of Final Fantasy XIV player characters to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the release of A Realm Reborn. The mosaic was revealed in a post on the official FFXIV Lodestone blog on Dec. 21.
Available to view in full on the 10th Anniversary Special Site, the incredible mosaic features over 20,000 individual screenshots submitted by players of the game. A recreation of Yoshitaka Amano’s 10th anniversary artwork depicting Hydaelyn holding Etheirys in her hands.
On the special site, you can zoom in and see individual images from players. From Warriors of Light hanging out with friends, their favorite NPCs, taking part in content, or reliving their favorite story moments, there’s a huge variety of images being used. Zooming in you can spot screenshots from Ceremonies of Eternal Bonding, the Main Story Quest, and even just hanging around Limsa Lominsa. However, with over 20,000 submissions for this piece, we imagine players will struggle to find their own screenshot in this enormous artwork.
The mosaic is the cap on a truly enormous celebration of ARR’s 10th anniversary. To recap just a few of the celebrations, there have been unique pieces of fiction, dioramas, messages from the community, special broadcasts, Fan Fests, tournaments, merchandise and more. Beyond this there’s been the special announcement of a FFXIV tabletop role-playing game, firework and orchestral shows, and more physical events. And on the more meta side of things, Square Enix has incorporated sweepstakes, competitions, in-game events, and sales into the celebrations.
While there has been some criticism about portions of the in-game experience for the 10th anniversary, it’s hard to argue with the vast array of things Square Enix and FFXIV have done this year. A full list of everything from the 10th anniversary is available on the official FFXIV website.
