Let’s be honest, Krile is the most useless primary member of the Scions of the Seventh Dawn. Tataru isn’t combat-ready, but she slings a mean coin and gets things done. Krile is around because of her relation to Galuf Baldesion, the founder of the Students of Baldesion. I honestly forget she’s there and Endwalker’s narrative even alluded to the fact that Krile herself realizes she doesn’t contribute much.
It seems her time to shine is coming though. In the last episode of Radio Mog Station, the official Japanese Final Fantasy XIV podcast, creative director and producer Naoki Yoshida came on as a guest. In his appearance, Yoshida teased where the story of FFXIV was going next.
According to a translation by Audrey “Aitaikomochi” Lamsam, translator and founder of Aitai☆Kuji, Yoshida said that players could expect a hefty dump of plot at the end of February. This will begin the narrative that will lead up to the next expansion, patch 7.0. At the same time, Krile will apparently get some focus after being in the background for so long. Thancred’s Japanese voice actor, Yuichi Nakamura, was also present during the show and Yoshida said more was coming for his character as well.
Yoshi-P says in the Radio Mog Station show that there will be quite a lot of info that will be dumped on us near the end of February that will lead up to 7.0. There might be some drastic changes that'll surprise you.

This fits with what Yoshida said prior to the launch of Endwalker. Generally, the post-launch patches are about cleaning up leftover story threads from the launch storyline. With Endwalker however, Square Enix tried to make sure that the main scenario at launch wrapped up everything.
“So normally with our expansions, as you know, we don’t end the story at that first expansion,” said Yoshida via translator during the Endwalker announcement showcase. “While in 5.0 for example, we did get that end credits at the end of 5.0, the story wasn’t actually finished until 5.3. However with Endwalker and 6.0, we plan on having the story complete itself by the end of the actual expansion 6.0. But of course, this does not mean that we are shutting down and ending the game at this point. Beginning in Patch 6.1, this will mark the beginning of an entirely new adventure separate from the Zodiark and Hydaelyn saga.”
Speaking of Krile’s relative lack of attention until now, Yoshida admitted that the character was left off the key art for Endwalker because he forgot her in his notes to artist Akihiko Yoshida. Krile was initially supposed to be under the Lady of the Light, according to a translation by the FFXIV Discord.
