Starting up a new survival game adventure is a path filled with learning, death, and loot. However, if you have an appropriate way to defend yourself, at least you'll have a chance to progress and fight your way to new and bigger secrets. Here are the best early game weapons in Enshrouded.
Best Early Game Swords
Using the classic sword to survive across Embervale may not be the flashiest of all the weapon options, but you would be surprised by the speed and efficiency it carries. It is my favorite one-handed weapon in Enshrouded and, once you get to craft them during the introductory quests, your initial sword will accompany you for a good chunk of quests.
- Scrappy Sword: The first sword you get to craft in the Blacksmith questline. Please, select this over the Spiked Club.
- Wailing Blade: Probably one of the first Legendary weapons you'll find in the game. It is located close to the Alchemist Ancient Vault and it is the reward for completing the "Scavenger Stash" quest.
Best Early Game Wands
If you have played a bit of Enshrouded and have read what people are saying about the game, a Wand is one of the best early-game alternatives you can pick. Not only will it eviscerate wildlife and giant insects, but it will give you the necessary mobility to dodge and move away from enemy attacks that other ranged weapons cannot provide - and they have unlimited ammo. Be sure to craft the base Wand for only two Bones as soon as you can. Then, search for the following Wands in chests:
- Apprentice Wand: A bit better than the base Wand with an increased Mana Regeneration and Ice Damage.
- Crackling Wand: My favorite pick out of the early-game wands, the Fire Damage that this Wand outputs will save your life often.
Best Early Game Staves
Once you unlock the Alchemist in Enshrouded, you will also get the chance to craft Staffs. As you can see, these Magic weapon has a higher base damage compared to Wands, but the bad news is that they have limited ammo. In fact, you will need to discover and then craft specific types of ammo so that you can focus on damage types such as Fire or Lightning. They are powerful indeed and will provide a great option for dealing with bigger enemies and even bosses.
- Spiritual Cane: This is the base Staff you get to craft at the Alchemist. A very useful Staff during the early game and will give you an idea of how Staves work.
- Shepherd's Lightning: An Uncommon Staff that provides a bit more base damage than the Spiritual Cane. You can find it in treasure chests or by defeating magic enemies.
Best Early Game Bows
Out of all the weapon types in Enshrouded, bows perhaps are not the most efficient out of the bunch, at least in my experience. However, since you come across these weapons in the wild by looting chests or defeating enemies, you only have to focus on finding or crafting arrows. Moreover, if you venture a bit far from the initial spawning zone, you can come across higher-tier bows with ease.
- Forest Longbow: One of the earliest bows alongside the Hunter's Bow or the Ornate Wood Bow, the Forest Longbow is a base bow that you can try during your adventures in Embervale.
- Wolf's Snarl Longbow: While this bow might appear more often later in the game there is a chance it may drop across local bandit bases, not far from your initial spawn point.
Try every single type of weapon you can find in the game. In time, you will discover what path you are willing to walk. Melee or ranged? Metal or magic? Pick the one that fits both your play style and your class to craft a build that feels yours and yours alone.
