Best Base Locations in Enshrouded

Here are the best base locations for you to set up camp.

Base positioning is extremely important in Enshrouded. Have a good base distribution and you'll be able to explore more of the world. Refuse to adapt and you'll be walking across the map in search of your Tombstone. Here are the best base locations in Enshrouded.

Enshrouded: Best Base Locations

Let's get something out in the open: Enshrouded features a very huge map. There are lots of areas with increasingly better rewards and loot, as well as dangerous enemies to face. The best base locations in the game will vary substantially as you progress through it due to the resource demand and level disparity you will encounter. Once you hit a high level, defeating lower-level enemies will not gain you much XP, and more common resources will pretty much become useless.

The trick is positioning your base close to points of interest - such as mines or enemy bases - that aren't covered by Ancient Spire towers, and even use the Flame Altars as checkpoints for specifically harder-to-access zones in the game. I will mention only a couple of base spots you can use early in the game, but the best advice I can give you is to apply the reasoning behind base positioning to your current level or character class needs.

Initial Zone Base Locations

This might be the first zone you set your Flame Altars on, but to be honest, both locations seen above have good resource positioning. The spot in the south is surrounded by trees, rocks, wildlife, and shroud enemies, and there's a cave to the west that you can visit to do some mining. If you unlock the Grappling Hook, you can cross Braelyn Bridge and set a base on the other side, where you can find a Small Flint Mine and Shroud Root. For both bases you have a huge shrouded area you can visit to farm and gain some fighting XP.

You will probably find this area once you unlock the Springlands Ancient Spire tower. There are a couple of enemy camps surrounding this area that can help you farm some XP. Moreover, there is a huge salt mine as well that has a lot of critters you can kill and substantially gain XP as well. Oh, and the Alchemist is just west of you, so don't neglect visiting and potentially finding valuable items.

Now this is an interesting one. You might encounter this zone later in the game and you probably need to level up to survive its many perils, but not only do you have both a Clay and Glimmer Rock mine surrounding you, but also some Hunting Grounds, an Enemy Camp, and even a Flame Sanctum.

Overall, be sure to position your bases in strategic places that cover areas you can access easily. Since materials will often become pretty much obsolete when you get to the medium to late-game armor and weapons, be sure to reposition your bases on more dangerous zones and hose mines with mines and resources that will better suit your needs.
