If you’ve been exploring the vast world of Dragon’s Dogma 2, you may have come across something called a Portcrystal. If you’re not sure how they work or whether they are useful to you, this guide will explain everything you need to know about the Portcrystals.
Warning: this guide contains spoilers.
What Are Portcrystals in Dragon’s Dogma 2?
The game encourages you to run around and explore areas on foot or by Oxcart. However, if you want some form of fast travel, this is where the Portcrystals come in. There are some Portcrystals that are permanent features of big cities, and they’re generally placed in strategic locations.
You can also obtain your own reusable Portcrystals throughout the game. Once you’re done fast traveling to a location, you can pick up the Portcrystal and move it somewhere else, should you need to.
It’s important to note that whether you use the permanent Portcrystals or your own reusable ones, you will need Ferrystones regardless. Ferrystones can be obtained in a number of ways. This includes getting them from quests, finding them in chests, or outright purchasing them from a vendor. Be warned, though, that purchasing Ferrystones costs 10,000 Gold.
While being able to place your own Portcrystals is great, you can only place ten at a time. That may seem like plenty, but when you’re exploring areas that seem bountiful or have a purpose for you later down the line, it can be annoying not being able to access the area quickly.

Where Are Portcrystals in Dragon’s Dogma 2?
There are only two permanent Portcrystal fixtures in the game. The rest rely on you to get your own and use them where you see fit. If you have initiated the true ending, you will unlock three further permanent Portcrystals.
The Portcrystals are found in the following locations:
- Vernworth
- Harve Village
- Agamen Volcanic Island
- Sacred Arbor
- Seafloor Shine
As for getting the reusable Portcrystals, there are some that you can obtain specifically through quests.

How To Obtain Reusable Portcrystals
Reusable Portcrystal 1
The first Portcrystal comes from a quest called Feast of Deception. This is one of the first questlines you’ll get in the game, where you speak with Commander Brant. In this end quest, you have to dress the part for the coronation. Once that is done, you will have to wait a couple of in-game days before you speak to Commander Brant and get the Portcrystal.
Reusable Portcrystal 2
You will come across an elf in Vernworth called Glyndwr. He wants your assistance as he has some trials he has to undertake. From here, you begin a new quest chain, which will eventually lead you to the settlement of the elves. Once you’ve completed the quest chain, you will receive a Portcrystal.
Reusable Portcrystal 3 and 4
You have to make your choices carefully when approaching this quest, as you have the option to get two Portcrystals rather than one. It all depends on your answers to the Sphinx’s riddles.
First, you want to choose the Riddle of Madness. To get the Portcrystal, place your main Pawn on the dais. The Sphinx will agree with your answers and reward you with the Portcrystal in a chest.
Second, you want to choose the Riddle of Conviction. You will be given the choice to duplicate any item in your inventory. From there, you want to choose the Portcrystal, which will then give you a second one.
Reusable Portcrystal 5
Once you’re on your way to working through the Flickering Shadows quest, you can speak with the Oracle and the Dragonforged. The Dragonforged is the NPC you want, as you can purchase both Ferrystones and a Portcrystal from him. In order to purchase them, you need to have Wyrmslife Crystals (WLC) on you.
The Ferrystone costs 3 WLC while the Portcrystal costs 20 WLC.
That’s everything you need to know about how to get Portcrystals in Dragon’s Dogma 2 and what they are used for.
Good luck on your adventure, Arisen.
