Destiny 2 Season of the Splicer is here and it’s time to elevate your fashion game. Along with new weapons, a 6 player activity, armor, story missions, and season pass, the heavily requested armor transmogrification feature is finally arriving. In this season, players will team up with the Fallen Captain Mithrax to stop the Vex from plunging Earth into total darkness. Unsurprisingly, Iron Banner is making its return this season and will be including two updated Year 1 weapons and two brand new guns for you to hunt down. Unfortunately, obtaining two of those weapons is going to be a bit of a headache thanks to a bug.
How to Get Riiswalker
Currently, the only way to get the Riiswalker shotgun is to complete the third step of the Iron Banner quest. According to Bungie, this weapon and the Archon’s Thunder machine gun are currently bugged and will not drop from any other reward source. Meaning, this shotgun cannot come from turning in bounties, completing matches, or turning in Iron Banner tokens. Bungie is aware of this issue and is actively seeking to resolve it. Given so many players are interested in nabbing a god roll of this weapon, I strongly recommend waiting until this glitch is fixed. Since Iron Banner tokens don’t vanish when the event leaves, just hold onto the ones you have.
We are investigating an issue where the Archon's Thunder Machine Gun and Riiswalker Shotgun cannot be acquired from Lord Saladin, Iron Engrams, Bounties, or post-match rewards.
Currently, these weapons may only be acquired from the "Iron-Handed Diplomacy" quest.

Additionally, you should try to complete the seasonal Iron Banner quest so you can get three guaranteed Riiswalkers. Remember, you don’t need to actually finish the entire quest to earn this gun. Just complete the step called Adversarial Relations and you’ll earn a free Riiswalker. While this isn’t ideal, it’s still a way you can hopefully get a good roll of this shotgun for either PVE or PVP.

Normally, I would have a god roll guide around this gun, but since I haven’t been able to run any tests here are just some perks I recommend looking out for. What I suspect will be the best PVP roll revolves around getting both Slideways and Iron Reach. The former will partially reload your magazine while providing some minor, temporary stat buffs, while the latter gives you a big increase to your effective range. Given range and stopping power is everything on shotguns in PVP, this is what you’ll want to hunt down. Remember, Riiswalker is a Kinetic shotgun, so expect to see it a lot in the more competitive game modes.
For PVE, the perks I like are Surplus, Vorpal Weapon, and Swashbuckler. Surplus is definitely the best PVE perk available in the first primary perk combo, as it can give us some serious buffs based on what abilities are charged. As for the second column, Vorpal Weapon is perfect for those wanting to use this for boss fights or taking down Champions, while Swashbuckler is a general damage increase that makes this effective for mob clearing. Both options are terrific, but truthfully I feel that there are better PVE shotguns available in the current sandbox.
