Warframe Ember and Frost Prime Vault Dual Pack — Is It Worth It?

Warframe‘s latest Prime Vault opening features Ember and Frost Prime. Their return from the Prime Vault means that their components are now obtainable through Void Relics until they are once again rotated out in a few months. But as with every Prime Vault opening, you can also directly purchase Frost and Ember Prime, along with a lot of extras. So, is the Frost and Ember Prime Dual Pack worth it?

What You Get — Ember and Frost Prime Dual Pack

The main offering for this Prime Vault unvaulting features, of course, Ember and Frost Prime. It also includes the weapons Latron Prime, Reaper PrimeSicarius Prime, and Glaive Prime. In terms of cosmetics, you get the Misa Prime Syandana, Pyra Prime Syandana, and Ember Prime and Frost Prime Glyphs. You also get a Titan Extractor Prime and Blueprint. Finally, the pack includes 1200 Platinum. This price for this pack is $59.99.

That may seem steep for a content pack, but let’s take a closer look. Firstly, the cosmetics included are currently exclusive to this bundle. If you’re a Syandana collector, you can’t currently get these ones anywhere else.

In terms of the frames themselves, Ember Prime is a powerful direct damage Warframe that can tear through unarmored enemies with her range of fire attacks. She isn’t quite as powerful as frames like Mesa or Saryn in terms of sheer destructive ability, but she can hold her own in a range of activities. Frost Prime, unfortunately, has a little less utility. He’s by no means a bad Warframe, but his elemental typing and abilities don’t have the same wide range of application. That said, he’s great for defense missions where his Snow Globe ability can protect objectives.

Latron Prime is a solid rifle, but it’s unlikely to be your go-to Primary weapon. The Sicarius is a burst-firing pistol that’s also a good choice for a Secondary, but doesn’t rank among the best weapons in Warframe. Glaive Prime is a strong throwing weapon, if you’re into that kind of thing. The best weapon in the pack is undoubtedly Reaper Prime, one of the strongest melee weapons in the game right now, owing in part to its high base Critical chance and damage multiplier.

The Titan Extractor Prime is an enhanced version of the regular Extractor you can build to passively obtain resources from a planet (assuming you’ve completed all nodes on it). It has twice the capacity of a regular Titan Extractor.

So, is the Ember and Frost Prime Dual Pack Worth It?

If you’re going to spend money on Warframe, then the Prime Vault packs are the way to go. To illustrate, if you were to purchase Platinum on its own, you could get 1000 for $49.99. For an additional $10, the Prime Vault pack gives you 200 more Platinum, some cosmetics, four Prime Weapons, and two Prime Warframes. Other than the Dual Pack, you can also purchase individual Ember and Frost Prime packs or even just the accessories for each Warframe. Of course, the Dual Pack works out to be the best deal, and the individual ones don’t come with as much Platinum, nor is it as highly discounted.

The only reason to spend money elsewhere in Warframe would be if you prefer to unlock Primes via Void Relics and/or if you only want to spend money on cosmetics. Even if that’s the case, though, you could still buy the Dual Pack and then immediately sell the frames and weapons, which would leave you with the cosmetics and Platinum — still a great deal. And if you don’t want to spend any money at all, remember that everything in the Prime Vault pack (with the exception of the cosmetics) is available in-game via Void Relics until Ember and Frost Prime are returned to the vault.
