The Internet is Down Bad for the Pokemon Scarlet & Violet Professors

Van Halen's "Hot For Teacher" plays in the distance.

The Internet is Down Bad for the Pokemon Scarlet & Violet ProfessorsA new Pokemon Scarlet & Violet trailer went up today, and while it showcased some pretty important things like online cooperative play and new pocket monsters for you to catch, the internet is fixating on two humans instead: Professor Sada and Professor Turo.

The Pokemon series has had hot professors before. Black & White’s Professor Juniper, X & Y’s Professor Sycamore, and Sun & Moon’s Professor Kukui were three generations in a row of looking respectfully at our professor as they gave us our starter Pokemon. But there’s just something about the trailer making a quick cut to both of these pieces of educational eye candy that grabbed everyone by the throat. Myself included. My name is Kenneth Turo now, I am married to my Pokemon Professor. Happy Pride Month.

Both characters’ names seem to be derived from the Spanish words for past (pasada) and future (futuro), which is in line with both of their character designs. Because on top of being hot, both characters look like they’re almost from different time periods. Sada wears clothes evocative of prehistoric times, while Turo has what looks like an Evangelion plugsuit under his lab coat.

As Pokemon fans do whenever there’s a new character reveal, fan artists and meme makers went to work moments after the trailer went live this morning.

Notably, Sada and Turo are the first time the professor character will be exclusive to a game. Sada will be the player’s professor in Scarlet, while Turo will be exclusive to Violet. There’s still a chance either character might appear in some other role in their opposing game that we don’t know yet, but if you want one or the other to be your character’s mentor through the full game, choose wisely.

Pokemon Scarlet & Violet are coming to Switch on November 18.

Update: I’ve been finding good fanart of these two and just want to share them. I omitted the spicy stuff. But trust me, it’s out there.
