One player in Animal Crossing: New Horizons has been making stunning replicas of iconic Disney princess, heroine, and villain looks.
Elise, who goes by ACNHDesignsByElise on Instagram and fresh-hamwise on Reddit, has been gradually posting her Disney series as she’s recreated various dresses. While she first started with the most well-known Disney Princess dresses, she soon felt compelled to branch out even further.
“I just wanted to make some Disney Princess dresses because I love Disney and love dressing up,” she says. “Every time I posted one, people would make requests for other characters, which gave me ideas for more characters. So I knew I wanted princesses and any other ladies who weren’t necessarily princesses (like Jane from Tarzan, Esmeralda, Mary Poppins).”

“But then I had a few ideas of how to make villains,” she tells me. “Each series has been 16 designs because I had 16 princesses and it makes a nice collage.” While she didn’t think she’d end up making so many looks, she has loved the feedback from members of the community who have been elated to see and dress up as their favorite Disney characters. For Elise, she’s also happy to bring “to light some less popular characters I love.”
The designs are so lovingly crafted that I asked her if she had any previous experience with designing fashion in the real world, or if she’s one of the many creators who perfected the craft of design system in Animal Crossing with Animal Crossing: New Leaf. But she says that, surprisingly, that’s not quite the case. “My previous Animal Crossing experience was Animal Crossing: Wild World. So the design making in that was very basic. But I remember enjoying it nonetheless.” As for practicing in the real world, Elise says she makes her own Halloween costumes every year, “and they turn out really well even though I don’t know anything about sewing.”

Since I can barely even draw an adequate town flag for my island, I was curious about how long it takes to design all these famous looks. “I try to make one design a day. Sometimes designs take a few hours … most designs get done in around 30 to 45 minutes,” she shares. “I’ll take a break when I’m hitting a wall and come back to it later. Sometimes I make several which gives me time to work on more complicated ones.”
She doesn’t create every single design entirely from scratch, especially when she’s made so many to base future designs off of. At times, she smartly recycles designs that are compatible with the dresses she’s about to make. “If you look at the similarity to Cinderella’s dress and Lady Tremaine’s, you’ll see what I mean. Once I have a series planned out, I keep an eye out [on Able Sisters] for anything that would help pull off the look.” And, once a design is done, she’s as happy to conduct a photoshoot at Harv’s Island as she is on her own.
As for future design plans, since Elise’s kiosk is full, she’s thinking of adding another person to her island just so that she can keep recreating Disney fashion. She just needs to figure out where to place her tent. With her most popular QR code on Reddit having over 4,500 upvotes, it’s safe to say a good number of Animal Crossing: New Horizons players are anticipating any creations she has in store.
Here are the QR codes for Elise’s three lovely Disney princesses, heroines, and villains series. Individual codes have been listed for the designs, as well.
