PlayStation Productions, the film and TV arm of the platform holder, has been fairly busy the last few years turning their biggest games into live-action productions. With the Tom Holland-lead Uncharted movie rocketing toward release and a Twisted Metal TV show seemingly ready for production, it looks like Ghost of Tsushima will be the next PlayStation IP to get the silver screen treatment.
The news comes from Deadline, which reports that the movie will be directed by Chad Stahelski, most famously known for the John Wick series. Stahelski also has the upcoming horror-thriller Classified on his plate, so it may be a little bit before he gets around to Ghost of Tsushima between that and the next two John Wick movies.
Details are scant on the actual movie, but presumably it will follow the revenging/avenging plot of the game and samurai Jin Sakai as he works to liberate the island of Tsushima from Mongol hordes. Just a personal request, but I’d prefer if the words “Kill the Khan” were not a big part of the movie’s imagery.
Ghost of Tsushima released in 2020 on PlayStation 4 and sold nearly seven million copies since last summer.
