How to Unlock Yo, Ho! (A Pirate’s Life for Me) Shanty in Sea of Thieves

Sea of Thieves is getting its biggest and most exciting update yet. Tied in with Season 3, the new “A Pirate’s Life” update will see this swashbuckling world cross swords with Disney’s Pirates of the Caribbean film franchise. Not only will this season revolve around a brand new storyline, but it will introduce a host of changes to the game’s world. Along with new story content, players can earn a new shanty from the Pirates of the Caribbean attraction called “Yo, Ho! (A Pirate’s Life for Me).” However, obtaining this new song is going to take a bit of work from you, so be prepared to get real familiar with these new Tall Tales.

How to Unlock Yo, Ho! (A Pirate’s Life for Me)

To unlock this shanty you will need to not only complete the Tall Tales but find all of the hidden lore books and side quests in each of the missions. Thankfully, you won’t need to replay the Tall Tales multiple times unless you missed one of the hidden Commendations such as A Pirate’s Tale’s Secret of the Grave. It will take a bit of time, around 5-7 hours depending on your skill level and if you encounter any bugs along the way. Similar to other Tall Tales, you will need to complete these in order, starting with A Pirate’s Life. Each Tall Tale can be started at any Outpost by voting on the books by the new Mysterious Stranger NPC.

Sea of Thieves

Once you have completed every single Commendation for the five new Tall Tales, you will unlock Yo, Ho! (A Pirate’s Life for Me) for all of your instruments. There is no additional cost associated with this shanty and it cannot be obtained any other way. So if you want to play this song on the high seas, you will need to make sure to complete every side quest available. These aren’t terribly difficult, but they will require a bit of extra legwork since finding the hidden journals can be a bit of a pain. You can check your progress on each quest by opening up your Pirate Log and then going to Reputation. From there, select Tall Tales on the left and then whichever mission you’re currently on.

More Sea of Thieves:

Keep in mind each Tall Tale also has additional rewards such as weapon skins, sails, and outfits. So it’s definitely worth completing – especially if you’re a new player and don’t have a ton of cosmetic items. Season 3 of Sea of Thieves is officially live, so if you’re looking to hop into this game now is the time. Not only is the new campaign newbie-friendly, but it’s one of the best Tall Tale collections developer Rare has done.
