Ring of Elysium is free to play, and currently available via Steam as a free download that only takes minutes to locate and a short while to download to your computer. If you’re interested in jumping into this Tencent Games-developed battle royale, we’ve got the lowdown on how you can nab it for free, install it, and get down to business cleaning other players’ clocks in no time. Here’s the thing: It’s actually very easy, so don’t sweat it too much.
Unfortunately, at this time the game is only available via Steam, but it could be making its way to consoles in the future. Right now, you’ll have to break out the mouse and keyboard if you want to join the battle for survival, so keep that in mind.
How to Download and Play Ring of Elysium
You can download Tencent’s latest battle royale project, like PUBG, via Steam. It isn’t available at the moment via any other launcher like, say, the Epic Games Store. Being available on Steam has opened the game up tremendously to a wide variety of new audiences, and as such has allowed it to grow at a quicker rate than before.
To download Ring of Elysium, launch Steam via the desktop client or navigate to Ring of Elysium’s Steam page here. Scroll down until you see the blue “Early Access Game” banner. Beneath that, you’ll see a message that says “Play Ring of Elysium” as well as a black “Free To Play” button next to a green “Play Game” button. Press “Play Game” and you’ll begin downloading the title. Since it’s free of charge, you won’t be taken to a checkout page, nor will you be queried about funds. That’s it! You’ll be playing in no time.
All you need to do when the game has finished downloading is launch it from the same page you went to download it or via your Steam library. You can then start up the game, customize it to your liking, and jump in as soon as you’re ready to take on Europa. Be advised that you’ll need to make a new character first, but that’s part of the fun of getting started.
Keep in mind that the game is currently in Early Access, which means it hasn’t been made available as a “full” release just yet. Because of this, you may very well encounter a variety of bugs or other glitches that interrupt play from time to time. But since it’s free to begin with – at least you won’t have to request a refund, right?
