If you’ve just bought the new Swamps of Corsus expansion for Remnant: From the Ashes, then you might be wondering how to access it. As is the way with any good Soulslike, it’s never just as simple as loading up a file and being spirited away to the new area. Instead, you not only need to set up a new area but also get quite lucky when you’re doing so.
Swamps of Corsus adds in a fair number of features for older players across the Adventure Mode, the existing campaign, and a brand-new Survival Mode. The changes to the campaign are part of a patch that came hand-in-hand with the Swamps of Corsus DLC. To access this bit, all you need to do is play through the campaign until you reach the part where you travel to Corsus. You’ll get to fight some new enemies and find some new items, but most of the best bits are hidden away in the DLC itself.
How to Access DLC in Remnant
Both new features can be accessed via the Warp Crystal in Ward 13, your home base in the game. Then you either need to decide on whether you want to access the Swamps of Corsus or the Survival Mode.
How to Access Swamps of Corsus
The vast majority of the new content for Corsus is contained within the adventure mode. To access this, use the Warp Crystal in Ward 13 and select World Settings, then Adventure Mode, then choose Corsus.
Each time you load a new adventure, and you’re likely to be doing this a few times if you want all of the new loot, you’ll be presented with a new instance of Corsus. This obviously comes with a random assortment of dungeons and bosses. Sometimes these will be the same ones you fought in the original Corsus campaign section.
In fact, that was the case for us for the first four adventures. Eventually though, you’ll come across one of the new versions of the area. These usually have gigantic spires that you can enter instead of the usual caves. Head into these for a chance at new items or equipment and a potential opportunity to fight one of the excellent new bosses.
The RNG element here can be quite irritating, but most of the adventures can be cleared in under 30 minutes with the right gear, so it’s a good chance to farm if nothing else.
How to Access Survival Mode
The Survival Mode is perhaps the most interesting new addition to Remnant. For this mode you also have to travel to the Warp Crystal in Ward 13, but then you can simply choose it at the bottom of the menu that brings up. No randomness required.
This will create a new version of your character who gets to run around in their underwear with a pistol and try to survive against an increasingly brutal world. It’s a lot of fun, and doing well within it unlocks the ability to buy new armor skins among other things.
